Just started the restoration on my 1990 captiva 206 cuddy that I purchased about 2 weeks ago. I got a pretty good deal on it for $1500 but she does need some work..The floors had quite a few soft spots especially back near the motor, I still haven't had the motor looked at but I was told that it was winterized after last being used in '08 and it looks very clean so my fingers are crossed. I spent most of this past weekend ripping out the interior seats and floor so that I can begin replacing them and it fought me every step of the way hopefully it will be easier when I start the rebuild of the floors. I do have a few questions about a couple of different things that I am hoping someone can help me with.

1. I am using marine grade plywood for the floors but I am wondering if I need to re-fiberglass them after I put them in like the original floors were and if so then what should I use to do so and do I need to do the entire floor?
2. I am leaving about 3 inches of the original floor around the edge since I am not sure how to fasten the new floor, I was told that I should not fasten anything to the stringers...Is this what I should do or is there another way?
3. My boat originally had the engine cover with a seat on either side and I am going to be converting it to a bench seat with a swimdeck on the back..I am looking for suggestions on where I can have this created in New York, I found a couple of places online one of them is in Arkansas and they had some great pics and seemed reasonable but I would like to find someone closer if possible to save on the shipping. Also I looked into possibly using a pontoon boat bench seat and have found some that will work but then I will have to build the swimdeck myself and have it upolstered. Haven't made up my mind yet on which direction Im going to go but looking for suggestions...

Below I have included a link to my first video which shows the boat after my first day of demo work, I will be adding more as I go so please feel free to let me know what you think...Also this is my first boat so anything else you think that I should know please feel free to post..

Pull out the foam, that will be the cheapest part of the rebuild.  Spray new in with great stuff.  It will give you a chance to check the bottom of the hull and the stringers.  There was another guy on here that did a 209?, I think.  Hopefully he will chime in.  Good luck with the build.

Good Luck on your project. I'm interested in your 'engine cover' conversion. I have restabalized mine with epoxy, but, I forsee a complete overhaul in the offing. I'm looking forward to a video on your upgrade. My boat is a '92 Festiva Cuddy 'Out to Launch'
