Hi all.  New to the board and also new to my area.  Grosse Ile for reference.  The wife got a big promotion and told me to stay home and be retired. I'm taking full advantage of that fact.   shades As we are still looking for a new marina, I am curious as to what resources are available in my area.  My boat shipped ok, but there are a few things that need to be addressed.  Mostly I am looking for a good mechanic( I may need to have my drive looked at).  I am also looking for parts stores and general goods.  I need to find zippers for my canvas (I most likely will get these on the net), a shifter (I have a quicksilver on mine now which has seen better days), and other materials and cleaners.

I hope to be more active on this site.  A friend of mine just let me in on this little secret and I immediately signed up.

Thanks in advance.

Alexis&Chad,

Grosse Ile is one of the treats that Michigan has to offer.  My brother and I spent part of our youth there, beginning 1957.  My brother Tim, is a very active member of the Grosse Ile Yacht Club and I am a non resident member.  Our dad was an early member, almost a charter member but not quite.  GIYC is something you might want to investigate.

You will enjoy both GI and RBO.

I am originally from all over.  I was an army brat and never stayed in one place for long as a kid.  Then as a career I worked for the embassies installing email servers around the world.  The rest will have to be over a beer or 2 as it gets complicated after that.  My wife is from Pittsburgh, PA.  We boated the Monongahela mostly with a few excursions to the city and beyond.

Thank you all for the quick and warm responses.  As for GIYC, we know no one up here and getting the required 2 sponsors is a little hard.

As we are both avid, avid boaters I'm sure we will see you on the water.  For now, Thank you all again.
