If you do replace it, go with strataglass instead. It's much thicker and better quality

Clear Plastic insert

Yep! I agree with Talon here is one place you don't want to be Frugal! Get the best optically clear plastic you can get! Yep! It is three times the cost but you will be able to see where you are going. This is one thing about Rinker they don't use the best optically clear plastic. At least they could use it only on the windshield.
You will love the visibility when you need it the most.

Richard,
I agree with Talon and Mike. It will be expensive but worth every penny.
In addition, if you do not currently have a cockpit cover, now is the time to get one made! It will extend the life of your new camper canvas indefinitely.
In all my years of boating, I still do not understand why anyone would leave their very expensive, expendable camper canvas erected when they leave the boat! (Don't get me started leaving camper canvas up in winter!) Why destroy your camper canvas and expose your interior to destructive UV damage?
Sorry for the rant.
Take care,
Phil

heh heh - I'll the the other side of that debate
We leave our camper canvas up during the winter months to keep the boat warm and enable us to boat year round. As soon as the weather gets anywhere near warm on a regular basis, it comes down and goes in the cabin for those spring and summer rainy days. We use the cockpit cover all summer.
The big trick is to take care of the camper canvas. Use the correct cleaning products and store it carefully - roll it, never fold it!

Ok Talon, you got me!
Just don't get me started on year-round boaters!
I was referring to the number of bimini tops/camper canvas I see each winter that look like some new art form after 6+ inches of snow on top have "reshaped" them. I see it time after time....
Boating in January! Do you know how lucky you are?
Arrgggg.

I agree with Talon statement roll it never fold it. Another trick I use is to make sure that the plastic is never rubbing on plastic. I use a terry cloth towel. Lay it on the plastic and roll away, in this way the terry cloth is touching the plastic and does not tend to scratch it.
Also never roll up wet plastic and leave it in a hot sunny area. The minerals in the water will mark that you won't get out.

We really dislike Rinker's standard camper package and hopefully we are going to find someone at the Cleveland show this weekend to redo it. Our problem with it is the fact that it is all glass. It heats ups really quick and it offers zero privacy when we use it. We hope to find a canvas shop that will duplicate the two rear sidepieces and the rear section with all canvas with mesh screens and zippered covers for the mesh windows. We don’t want any glass at all in it. Here is a picture of the current setup.

Actually…not much
We tie up stern in so anybody walking by or the houses behind us can look down in. We spend most weekends on the boat and it would be nice to have a camper up that doesn’t create a sauna. We don’t have air and keeping the cabin door open all night and the fans on helps a lot.

Richard,
You just made me realize I did not discuss the camper canvas details with my dealer.
Does anyone know if the 270 camper canvas has a screened window on the aft end. How many screened windows does it have?
Thanks,
Phil

Talked to a canvas guy Sat at the Cleveland show and I think we are going to have them make a fastback piece with a screen window in it instead of doing a camper.
