Anyone have any suggestions on a good winter boat cover for a 2005 232 CC?  I am looking for a quality cover.  Thanks in advance.

Rwallen,

Will you be storing it outside?

My inlaws had a cover custom made from a canvas shop. Its a heavy canvas top that has straps that hang down to hold onto the trailer so it can double as a traveling cover for the road. I was suprised to find out he only paid 400.$ or so for it just after I  bought one of those one size fits all pastic covers from west marine for 300$.

I'd try to locate a custom canvas shop that does a lot of business on boat tarps first.  They can put reinforcements where you want and loops/pole snaps in particular places that a "universal" cover will not have.  Find out if they use "Sunbrella" material.  We have a place here in Sioux Falls that does a ton of boat canvas so whenever I need something, I go to them.

Next, I would try Rinker.  I believe they still make canvas for previous model years that aren't over a couple years old.

Otherwise, the usual...Overtons, West Marine etc.

Is it time to go boating yet?

I had an upholstery guy from a local marina make my storage cover for my 232CC.  He didnt use canvas though.  He uses a new material that he said is much better and will last longer, and easier to maintain (wash).  I think the material is called ABC.  I will check to make sure. It is not permeable at all. Will not leak water at all, unlike canvas when its been touched while its wet.  Anyway, its more of a rubber texture, and stretches slightly, but very tough.  I was worried about it sweating but he insured me it wouldnt.  I have had it for over a year now and it is great. It keeps the boat dry as a bone during heavy rains and hot sun, no sweating inside, and it dries very fast after its been wet.  I also like that when bird crap gets on it, I can just blast it off with a hose or brush. No stains, no mess, since it is rubber based. It is a light gray color. He installed two pole vents in it for humidity.  The cover comes down about 2 or 3 inches below the rub rail to protect the whole top of the boat, the bimini just lays down in the boat when its stored.  I keep a basketball sitting just in front of the hatch on the cuddy to keep water from pooling during rain. It has 5 ropes that go under the trailer and off the platform area to snug it down tight. I payed $550.  If you would like I can see if I have any pics.  I get lots of compliments and people wanting one.  Best thing I have bought for that boat, sitting out in the elements like it does.

Keith,

I'd like to see some pix of it if you have some...I'm always curious.

Thanks,
