Having problems fitting snap fasteners to my new camper canvas. Bought a Fasco snap kit from West Marine, but the hand pliers are not strong enough to turn over the cap posts (and the pliers don't align the parts properly). Anyone know of a good hand tool for this? I have looked at punch sets, but would prefer to be able to work with the canvas up on the boat, so the punch is no good. Thanks

John,
I don't know the name; however, I borrowed one from the marina service shop and it worked well. You may inquire at your local marina or canvas shop about renting (borrowing would be better) theirs to do your job.

The 'industrial' pliers for this, like a canvas shop uses are way better.

Hey John, I did a lot of research on the same problem last summer and fall. Even visited some canvas shops. Same old story you get what you pay for. It basically came down to one portable tool. The Press and Snap.
Here is the link

Not the cheapest, but it is suppossed to be one of the best. I have not purchsed one yet but I plan to. Has to be better than all the cheap one time use tools out there.
