I have rust colored water coming out the base of my starboard nav light. took the cover off and the screws
out but could not lift the base off looked in the anchor locker looks like there is sealant holding
the wire has anyone had this problem . thinking about changing to chrome lights anyway. my question is
where is the water coming from? By the way it is a 2005 342

I replaced mine a few years ago with LED lights..water getting in and burt bulbs made me do it.
So yes, Rinker sealed the lights (and the bow rails) from the bottom, pretty easy to do when it's all apart, but it traps water IN the decking that way too. I had a hella time getting the lights and wiring out. With some choice words and a really long (2') flat tipped screwdriver, I managed to peel the sealant away and get to the connections. I went in through the anchor locker in the v-berth. It helped I didn't care about the lights. It was slow though.
The water is from washing/rain...
I know my issue was the size of the lights, horizontal mount, and the location with the through hole in the deck made a drop in replacement at the time impossible. I had 2 stainless steel discs made up to mount to the deck (sealed with 4200UV) then mounted the lights to that. I have drawings and the light part numbers from Hella Marine if you are interested. The SS parts cost me about $100 for both..probably a deal as I know a machine shop..but it came out nice and the LED's are brighter and pull far less power, and since LEDs are sealed, water is no longer an issue.

Could not have said it better, Black Diamond was correct in every statment. Go for the LED's I might seal with 3M 4000 instead due to the UV inhibitors. Al
