Hello everyone, i'm new to this forum and just purchased a captiva MTX 190 with the 4.3 190hp tks motor and was wondering if any one has tried the high 5 prop in place of the stock aluminum 3 blade and what the difference in holeshot ,top end, and choppy water performance is with boat/ motor combo? thanks ahead for your replies!

Since no one seems to have any experience with the high 5 prop, what about a 19p ss prop in place of the 19p aluminum, any differences in performance, I here the ss are alittle different in pitch, thanks Lee

Lee, on a prior runabout I owned, I switched from the stock aluminum prop to a 4 blade Piranha composite.  It made a huge difference in the hole shot and improved cornering by eliminating cavitation.  I'd image the Hi 5 would be even more pronounced in the difference it makes.

I recently changed out the stock 19 degree aluminium prop for a 21 degree.

Hole shot is a little less responsive but still no trouble popping someone up.  Top speed increased from roughly 45-47 to 50-52mph.

I haven't tried any aluminum props, but I have tried a 19 and 21 pitch 3 blade, as well as a 21 pitch (had been repaired and I think is actually now a 19) high five.  I like the 21-3 blade for cruising and general stuff.  It did struggle pulling up a few skiers quickly, but if the skier was pretty experience, and not a full grown adult, I didn't have any issues.  The 19-3 blade is definitely better for pulling, but you do lose a little top end.  The high five I purchased pulls very strong and I really like it overall, but it acts just like my 19.  I hit the rev limiter and such very easily, and all of my speeds per RPM are the same.  I think someone repaired it previously and made it into a 19 instead of the stamped 21.  I am still comparing to see if it pulls better than my 19,,, if it does, I will likely stay with it for everyday skiing and such, and trade my 19-3 blade for a 21-3 blade for cruising and such.  I have heard good things about the high five, I just wish the one I have was a non-modified version...

The High-5 is what is on the R1 212/226 series boats. I would imagine that it would give you great hole shot and control at a lower RPM. That is what a wakeboarder is looking for, so that would be why it is on the R1. What pitch? I wouldn't have a clue. Maybe a 20 or 21. A SS prop doesn't have as much flex in the water unlike the aluminum one. If they are both a 19, then they should act the same, but the SS will give you better performance due to less flex. I have a 19P SS prop as a spare, but since I boat in the river, I am hesitant to put it on. Given the issues that I have had this season, I don't want to hit something submerged and do more damage than dinging a prop.
