This stuff is driving me mad....

Here is what I hear when I push the anchor switch, either up or down, with breaker on or off....

http://s939.photobucket.com/albums/ad237/fmrosell/Windlass/?action=view&current=0812101931a.mp4

I have bypassed the breaker, checked the 60 amp breaker at the battery panel....I can't figure out where the problem is....

Any ideas?

I take it the anchor isn't going in or out?  The click sounds like a relay engaging.

All of my switches make no clicking sound..... That the clicking still appears with the breaker switch off, let's me believe that it is the switch. Did you try to replace the switch itself?

I am a fool!

The helm switch is powered by the HELM power switch.  The anchor windlass needs to have the ENGINE battery switches ON as well, otherwise you only get the click of the high voltage solenoid switch.   When I turned the engine batteries ON, the windlass dropped the anchor...

If you test power at the dock, turn ALL the switches ON....

Don't be so hard on yourself...there are many mysteries on a boat. We all come pretty un-educated to boating. The 30-60min demo we might get when taking delivery just doesn't do it, and it is way too much info, besides we are too excited to stay focused and listen.
The handbook that RINKER provides is very general at best. I wish they would provide us with a smaller booklet, just as it comes with our cars (with illustrations and more boat specific)
I discover something new every day, because it does not work, or it should not work but it does (especially with electronics, way too many switches and combinations). I own my Rinker since 4 years now and never gotten tired of reading and learning and discussing things at the dock with fellow boaters or technicians.

I wish there were as many dedicated TV stations covering boats and boating as there are for cooking.....

Thank you....sounds like you are advocating for a WikiRinker site, where Rinker owners can contribute their problems and experiences in a searchable database....much like this site...

You are right...the manuals are just inadequate for the owner of a specific model...

I wish I knew how the windlass was wired in my 342, as even the windlass  manual does not correspond to the wiring in my boat.

That would be a great addition to this site - a wiki - you could take threads and promote them to wiki articles and group edit them. That would be cool...

The thing I loved most about my SeaRay (in comparison to my Rinker) was the owners manual and wiring diagram that was included.  I really don't understand why Rinker provides so little information.
