Has anyone heard anymore about this recently?  I know many of you frequent the lake.

I was thinking of going down the last weekend in August, but if the water is "less than desirable" I think I'll go to Shelbyville instead!!

This isn't the first time that this has happened at Clinton Lake - I remember about 6 or 7 years ago, they banned people from swimming completley - and I also remember about 11 years ago the same thing. Clinton Lake is home to the Clinton Nuclear Power plant - the station uses water from the lake as a cooling source for all of the plant systems and as a result, most of the lake never freezes and the water is always pretty warm which is basically perfect for alge to just keep on growing and growing pretty much year round.
You can always grab some Asian Carp from the Illinois river and stock up Clinton Lake - those carp eat up to 40% of their own body weight each day - and they eat alge :-)

It was a younger girl who swalled water while swimming in a more stagnant part of the lake. That's where the bad algae were.

Shelbyville had a beach close because of ecoli tested in the water. Stuff happens everywhere.

I live and work( Boondocks Grill and Bait)  on Clinton lake , the "sick" girl had been dunked into the water several times that day, they never proved she had gotten sick from the algae.

There was a report of a dog dying from the  algae also , but its death was later reported as "heat related" The weekend that the girl  had gotten sick, over 1500 people had swam at the lakes beach, and no other illnesses have  been reported since this "scare"
