05 FV 270 - Fresh Water Flush

This is somewhat inline with my earlier post on the Merc 8HP engine. It's not that I'm lazy, I'd just rather not keep crawling down into my engine space on my 270 to hook up the hose to do a fresh water flush when I come in. I'll be honest - I'm better at drinking beer at that point when were in and shut down than crabbing around a cramped engine space with hoses - 

So what's involved in extending that to a through-hull hose attachment point on the transom. Is it really just buying the stainless mount for the transom, drilling the hole and mounting it, and then running connector hose in between? Does it have to be a water pressure regulator fitting on the transom? Maybe an inline strainer?

Sounds simple enough to me.  Just be sure to label it....Not for potable system!!

OK - bought the connection and the strainer today - totally freaking out about drilling the hole in the transom though - 

I am also going to put a shut-off down near the bilge area - rather than unscrewing the hose each year, you can just unscrew the drain screw and let it drain into the bilge. I know I'm over engineering this but what the hell, right?

Drill baby DRILL!!  I put a fresh water hook up in last season.  Here's the worst it could look.

Hole saw with painter's tape to keep the gelcoat from chipping?

Nope just drilled with a hole saw.  Was careful getting through the gelcoat, tipped/heeled and rotated the hole saw until I was through it.  The connector I had covers the hole by at least 3/4" on all sides.  I used stainless nuts and machine screws to install it.
