It was a clear day and the family was enjoying a sheltered anchorage....the forecast called for late afternoon scattered showers and thunderstorms....
The view at 1:55 pm...

By 3pm the WX alert went out about an approaching storm being tracked and on course to pass directly over us....there is nowhere to run... send the kids to the cabin while the admiral and I pick up and stow away all the gear, get the life jackets on and turn the engines on....anchor line was secured the the cleat inside the locker

The howling winds were reported to be as high as 70mph! Several boats dragged anchor, a sailboat was overturned and a sailing student is still missing, presumed drowned...
http://www.lohud.com/article/20107260331Thankfully, my family made it through...I tried to steer into the wind to keep the tension off the anchor line....but we were bounced forcefully for about 45 minutes...
A humbling experience....
The only damage was the bruised mariner ego and the anchor roller loop. The admiral was in fine form. She kept the children and the dog in the cabin, and kept a lookout from the cabin door.
