Hi guys,

since i am planning a 10 days vacations with my rinker 270 f.v (mod.2002) 350 mag, pls give me a piece of advise on the foll issues:

1.   i am thinking to purchase as a spare (although the one on board works o.k) a shower pump, just incase. Anyone can advise the original type (brand name/model) of same?
2.   After a short trip (most of the times in a wavy sea) there is water inside the engine compartment. Cannot figure out where it is coming. could be from the holes around the hull or from somewhere else, since if idling water level is not increased? Any ideas where to look? Quantity is abt 1-2 liters (each time pumping out by bilge pump manually (not enough level to operate the floter), but appear once again during steaming). Is it normal to have some water inside?
3.   The bulkhead of the toilet (where the door is located) has a gap with the hull of abt 0,5 to 1 cm. It had silicone all around which I removed and filled again, but I am concerned about this clearance. Anyone has seen the same? Is it normal?

Thanks for any reply,

Alex

Hi Alex, Via Question #2.  I had simular water issues. So, to figure it out here is what I did.  Start your trip with very dry bilge.  When you come off a plane look to see how much water is rolling back up your transom.  I had water roll up to the engine hatch and then wash through and rained down into the engine area.  You have to look right away since the compartment is hot and drys up the drips fast.  The other area to look is the bildge pump outlet, outside the boat.  Water can spray against it and then drain back down the pipe and out the pump.  Check the pipe inside the boat and be sure it curves up before it curves down to the pump.  That should stop most of the water issues if it's not an engine cooling issue... Most likely not... grin

thanks for your reply 'life's good'.

i'll check that over the week end.

is there any possibility that water is coming in via the blowers holes , port and starboard side of the boat?

thks

I'd doubt that, unless you're in very heavy seas.  Might be more likely to check around the bolts of the swim platform...  some have reported the caulking failing there with heavy waves...
