I just bought a 05 black hull 27, it had been sitting outside for 2 years, took be the better part of 2 days to get it just ok in my opinion, but I wanted it in the water to start using it.  I'll spend the spring while it's on shore doing it right and I wouldn't have it any other way.  Had white hull boats all my life, won't go back.  As the corvette owner said, and I have one too, a black one as well, and it looks classy when it's done right.

I will post lots of photos when we get home from this 500+ mile trip that we are in the middle of right now. It's been a great experience so far. Thanks for the comment, we seem to think so too :)

2 more cents.......I would go white hull next time.

Now, as mentioned earlier in the thread prior to 2007 there was/is a real issue with the dark hulls.  Mine is a 2006 so I have been dealing with the issue.

This fall the boat is coming out and I am having it painted with Awlgrip.  Have seen this done a few times (to Rinkers and other boats) and it looks fantastic...and much easier maintenance then the gelcoat.  So, once that is done I may be back to loving my dark hull!!!

I posted some pics including this one on the pics forum but I thought this pic specifically is relevant to this discussion...

This is my black hull (you can see the water sparkling between the first two port holes).  I actullly machine polish/wax it 3 times per season!!  Spring/mid season/before shrink wrap.  It is a lot of work but I think it is totally worth it!

1) For lake use we have black hull
2) For ocean we have white hull
3) Why all colors look good when new and waxed
