Is it time to go boating yet?

« on: July 09, 2010, 06:18:45 PM »

I read a posting on the forum about another guy wanting the same thing for a 212.  The reply directed him to the website swimplatforms.com.  I was wondering if anyone has actually used there platform, or bought from someone else. I receieved a quote from them by email, and it was to my house for $1395.00. Then I would install it.  I didnt really like the lower support rods that are lag bolted into the transom from swimplatforms.com, but maybe it offers that much more support and makes them better.  I have seen others without those rods, and like that better. Any advice on these would be appreciated. Thanks!

I hang out at www.crownline.com and www.crowniehq.net sites.  There's a few guys there that have used swimplatforms.com and have been quite pleased with their purchase.  Got to have the support poles or you'll rip the platform off the boat.  You could through bolt and install stainless backer plates inside the the transom.

Right or wrong, the factory 232 swim platform does not have support rails.  I think there is 8 or more bolts though the transom.  In reverse it can scoup up serious water.  I have never heard of any cracking...

I have one from swim plattforms and is very sturdy, the support rods are no big deal. 3M has under water stuff called 5200 and it seals fine. I have also seen at boat shows where people actually custome fabricate one. in regards to the serious scooping of water when backing, very true and concerns me about swamping the engine if you back up fast in rough water, just look befor you back. I really enjoy mine and would recommend at least three guys to install it. Get it level witht the existing platform or it will look goofy.
