I have a 2000 Rinker 232 Cuddy with the 7.4L 454. I'm headed down to the storage unit (late start to the year this year) to change the oil this weekend, but don't remember the specifics on oil viscosity, capacity, and filter. Anyone out there have the same setup and willing to share with me the specifics on recommended viscosity, oil capacity, and more importantly, standard oil filter number (Fram, Wix, etc.)?

Thanks.

I've got a 98' 7.4L and it takes a AC PF-454 oil filter (easy number to remember) and 5.5 or 6.0 quarts.  I only run MerCruiser 25w40 stern drive oil.  I have started running the synthetic blend version of their 25w40 stern drive oil.  Everyone has an opinion on oil brands but I have a friend that ran automotive oil and it  caused the low oil pressure alarm to sound at idle.  I say stick with the manufacturer on this one and run their oil. thumbsup

My local dealer, a Cobalt dealer because there isnt a Rinker dealer close, uses OEM Mercruiser oil filters and Merc oil 24W-40 Part No. 92-802837a 1. Trouble free since 1997, and I highly recommend BG 44k in the fuel once a year and MOA in the oil. Best oil and fuel addative on the market!
