Just got back from my 1st rainy week at the lake.
Had time to install new speakers in my boat.
Sounds better than the factory MA speakers.I found one ft speaker that was broken???
Couldnt find my Ipod so it was Ironman2 soundtrack (Ac/Dc) all week long. bang head
The factory Clarion deck is hipowered rated @ 52wx4ch , but I still feel that an amp or 2 with a sub will be the way to go .
New Polk speaker grill covers arent as protective as the white factory ones . I am sure someone or something will poke a hole thru one sometime , but for the price , the sound was definatly improved.
I just have to get it louder , my hearing just isnt the same the older I get ..... devilish
Pics of course.

I have been a big fan of Polk speakers for boats.  That 52 watt rating is really a lot less, about 22 RMS (the important number).  It would be good if you can get an amp that puts out at least 50 Watts RMS per channel or more.  The polks will probably handle 75-90 RMS, depending on which model you have.

I have that same combo.  Plenty loud for me, but the boys wouldn't mind making it louder. scratch head
If you need a wireless remote for it, give me a holler.  I ordered a remote for mine not realizing it was the M455 (not M455A) and did not have the option for a wireless remote bang head ( as did the M455A).
Oh well.....It still gets free satellite radio. thumbsup

After I figured out that the M455 did not have a wireless remote as an option, I looked into the wired remotes.  The cheapest controller was about $100 bucks then you have to buy the cable for another $30.  Add shipping on that. huh
After much web surfing I found this neat little remote.  It's water proof, floats and you can be up to 125ft away and change channel.  You could be on your floaty and turn up the volume. grin
After they respond to a question i had, I will probably order one.

It has a receiver that plugs into your hub controller's 6 pin plug.  So there is still hope for me to have a wireless remote.  thumbsup

Well...that is the question I sent them.  I'm 95% sure it is the Model: RTF CLA 6 .  According to their CLARION MARINE APPLICATION GUIDE both the M455 and your M455A are the 6 pin (plug) model.  When I went to order it, it ask for the color and then select head unit.  Only thing is that it only list a CMV-1 head unit.  I'm sure it is a mistake because the CMV-1 is listed as an 8 pin plug on their application guide. scratch head
I'm hoping for an answer tomorrow.  I'll let you know what they say. thumbsup

Called and talked to a guy named Glenn and he said the RTF CLA 6 was the one for the m445 and m455a clarion.  I oredered it over the phone and it was $104 shipped.
If you don't have an owners manual for your unit, you can get a "pdf file" one here.

I picked up an Amp for My sons car today (B-day gift) at a local retail place
I got home & started surfin for a Boat Amp for me .
Found a online store that had the same dam amp I had just bought for My sons car for way less than half of what I just payed , so I returned it & ordered from  the online store .
I know it was Greasy of me to do it , but WTF ? I have spent a lot of money in that store on home electronics
I think I can just get Me Better,More Boat Stuff .....
Will see how my dealin with this online store goes 1st ,before I order my boat amp or amps
My Neighbor was in the store at the same time that I was today ... Looking at Remotes & Subs  for His boat

I got the remote in today and already installed it.  I now have a working remote. grin  This is what it looks like.

I also found the same remote labeled "I-ROCK" just higher in price. http://www.h2owaves.com/technical.php

I did notice that there was a cable already plugged into the 6 din plug.  I'm guessing the boat is pre wired for a hub controller so you may not have to buy a $30 cable if you choose to go down that route.  I have no clue where it ends up,  maybe behind the instrument panel.   ( ANYONE????) That would be sweet. thumbsup
I just unplugged it and plugged in the RF remote.
OH....I'm sorry for hijacking your thread. devilish

OK, here is the $104 question.  Will the RTF unit change the track on your ipod (next track) when playing your ipod through a radio that had ipod control....

I don't know.  I don't have an ipod and have not had a chance to play with it much.  I would lean toward no, but you might give them a call.
I really needed a way to quickly turn the radio down while pulling a wake boarder/tuber.  This thing is designed so that you can attach it to your ski rope and control the stereo while doing water sports.  Pretty cool, but I don't think I'll be doing that.

I'm pretty sure the RTF web site is some stereo shop.  An installer usually answers the phone.  I think Glenn is the manager.   Well... the installer answered today and said if your ipod shows up as a source on the head unit, it should change tracks.  I would focus on the word "should".

Here's what the buttons do;

volume up
volume down
forward
backward
source
play/stop
off/on
mute

Here are a couple of forum discussions I found.

I installed the I-Rock wireless remote this last weekend and so far am very happy with it. It is the floating keychain style and it works pretty good. My boat is not too easy to get in and out of from the front so the RF remote makes it simple to change the track or volume from anywhere within listening range.

Pros
cheap
works well
can tie to board shorts and is waterproof
dont have to climb into the boat all the time
plastic holder can be zip tied to almost anything

Cons
It doesn't always respond on the first push of the button
you have to disable all your hard wired remotes if you have an Alpine

Yep, it really works.  I picked up a black Clarion I-Rock remote fob off Ebay for about $140.

I haven't tested the waterproof claim but can add that this puppy works from about 100' away on the dock.

You'll need to add the receiver in line with your wired remote/s. I purchased a second "y" cable and now have two wired remotes and the wireless.

The wife loves it for lounging on the bow and being able to crank er' up.

these forums are talking about the I-rock, but it's the same remote.

I have the exact same setup - same boat only in yellow, same head unit, and my son and I installed the same speakers last summer.  The original clarion speakers were literally dust and the cones were crumbling.  I believe the pre-wired remote runs to the transom for the clarion remote.  It is a round remote that Rinker mounted on the transom right next to the walk through on the port side of it. There's enough real estate there to mount the remote.  If you look under the fiberblass right in that area in the engine compartment you'll see a large plug which I believe is the other end of the wire you're talking about.  I noticed the wire there on mine while I was working on some maintenance items a while back.  I may need to look into the wireless remote, that's pretty sweet.
