This last weekend I had a ranger come check my boat while sitting in the courtesy dock. My 262 Cuddy is too long to get out of the back so we closed the cuddy door to allow the passengers to exit via the front. Not thinking a thing about it when the ranger came up and started the check I never reopened the door to the cuddy. I keep my jackets on the floor just inside. The ranger gave me a ticket for "Inaccessible PFD's"  This is a legal place if they are within arms reach and not stored or in the front of the cabin. He did this morning reduce it to a warning but it should have never happened in the first place if I had been thinking.

Just about anywhere other than on the person is Inaccessible! Did he make any recommendations - Next if you cludded the deck with them he most likely give you a ticket for trip harzards!

Then DNR will give you a ticket for operating a vessel with an obstructed view!  :?

ND don't hang them from the bimini. I got stopped at Hillsdale for that one. Was told that they were not readily accesable. Fortunantly I had enough other jackets in the boat for everyone so they couldn't give me a ticket. Ive been stopped and checked in KS, MO,OK and TX and I swear KS is the worse. Giving someone a ticket for jackets while sitting at the dock is ridiculus, a warning okay, some helpful suggestions okay. but a ticket thats crazy.
