Out on Mother's Day............coming back in.............. hit unexpected 5 ft waves ..... boat worked fine for awhile then went to slow down and all of a sudden boat quit running.  Ship to shore worked, windlass worked but boat would not turn over.  Needless to say had to call Boats U.S. for help..............

Any thoughts???

Thanks.

I had something similar happen to me on Lake Michigan a few years back. I had a 1994 236 and while scooting around on the lake, hit some 4-5 footers and next thing I know, it died and would not restart. Turning the ignition key wouldn't even spin the starter so I checked the circuit breaker on the engine and it was fine, then pulled the helm panel where the ignition switch was. Once I pulled the panel, one of the wires on the ignition switch had fallen of due to a loose crimp. Re-crimped and placed back on the ignition switch and it fired right up. Could be something as simple as a loose wire on the ignition switch.

Same thing happened to me when bringing the 420 back up the ICW this spring.  Loose connection on the fuse block on the top of the engine.  The fuel pump quit.  Reseating the automotive style fuses got 'er running again.

Doesn't a 270 have a landyard? I would check the little switch on the shifter first. Pull the landyard right off as if you fell out of the boat and reset it. This happened to me once and that is what it was, same symptoms. Good Luck

Thank you all for your help.

The ignition switch had become loose and fallen off - once connected the motor turned over.

Thanks again...........I love this site - it is a sea of knowledge.
