Ahoy Shipmates: I realize that the winds and cold temperatures are still upon us BUT no doubt the 2010 boating season will be here before you know it. So, with that in mind, the attached cruising schedule is provided. Here are a couple of points to help you understand the document and make your planning a bit easier.
a.
Reservations Due NLT date ‐ This is the latest date the marina requires a firm reservation. While marinas allow for block bookings, and I have done this, they do require the individual boat captains to call and finalize their own reservations. Making your reservations by the NLT date ensures you get a slip and it is one close to the group.
b.
When you call let the marina staff know that you’re part of the Cruz Club. Block reservations have been made for our group and in some cases that entitles you to a discount.
c.
More About Block Reservations: For each trip a random number of slips have been reserved, i.e. Smithfield trip – a block of 8 slips have been reserved. This number may go up or down depending on the number of boats attending. This number is shown in the Block column. Again, once the Blocked number of slips have been reserved, the marina may still have slips but not necessarily adjacent to the rest of the group?
d.
Cruise Captains – These are the individuals who will coordinate details for the particular cruise. We have a lot of empty slots so please consider volunteering. The primary tasks for the Cruise Captain as I see it is (1) to keep the group informed of any last minute changes and (2) coordinate docktails, events, etc., that will take place over the weekend. It will be the Cruise Captain that communicates with you regarding planning for a particular cruise.
e.
Please be mindful of marina cancellation policies as they differ from marina to marina. Ask questions when you book your reservation.
f.
When you make your reservations also inform the Cruise Captain. Until we have a Cruise Captain for each cruise, send your inputs to me.
g.
The Long Cruise over the 4th of July week is a full week event stretching from Friday until the following Sunday. You can join any part of that trip you prefer, i.e. some folks may opt to go half way, say Tides Inn, and return home; others may desire to join the group along the way. Any way you want to do this will be fine – just make your reservations and let the Cruise Captain know of your intentions. PS: I have not yet made Block reservations at Tides Inns or Kingsmill.
h.
Arrangements will be made for USCG Aux and Power Squadron personnel to be available on Sat 1 May, at Vinnings Landing, to perform Vessel Safety Checks and provide the 2010 VSC sticker. Let me know if you want to take advantage of this benefit. Each insp last approx 30 mins and will be scheduled on a first come basis. Make you desires known early.
I am also hoping to have local brokers, marinas, etc., sponsor some our cruisers. If you have any ideas in this regard, please send them in.
If you’re aware of unique or special items of interest regarding any of the ports of call, by all means share with the rest of the group.
Most importantly make your reservations early and let’s have a fun and enjoyable Summer 2010 cruising the Chesapeake Bay. If you have ideas and/or suggestions for making our cruising events that much more enjoyable let me know.

If you're interested please PM me with your contact information so I can send you the pdfs of the informaion listed here and answer any questions you may have

Thanks DJ for the schedule.  I'll have to take a good look thru it.  I'd love to be able to meet up with you and some other members.  Let's hope for that warmer weather soon!

I'm guessing you thinking about meeting up at St. Michael's or Solomon's. If so that would be great. The schedule just went out and we have three boats commited to the week long trip thus far.

I think that weekend of the 9th, most of us up North are gonna try our own get together.

sounds like a great trip planned!  Zahniser's is definitely one of our favorites!
