Just wondering. I've had everything from 3/4 ton trucks to 1/2 ton trucks (regular and crew cabs in each) and the same in SUV's (1/2 and 3/4 ton).  Currently just got rid of my '07 1/2 ton Sierra for just a little bit older Escalade with the 6.0 motor.  Did this for the less monthly payment (almost none) and the bigger towing capacity (1500 lbs).  So, just made me curious as to what your tow rig was and how it handles.

P.S.  I towed 1/2 the summer with the Admiral's Durango and surprisingly it handled the 6000 lbs + load like a champ.  Would not have believed it if I didn't experience it myself, but one of the best tow rigs I've driven.

I tow our 260EC with a 1500 4x4 Suburban.  Nothing special just an older southern USA truck with a 5.7, but does the job.

I pull my 246cc with a Nissan Titan. The truck is geared really well and you hardly notice that you are pulling something other than the fact that the rig with the boat attached is almost 50' long

Back in the day before cruisers, I used to tow my 22' Stingray deck boat with a Durango.  It was a piece of cake with it.  Great tow vehicle.  thumbsup

I think four wheel drive is a must.   I've seen too many vehicles end up in the drink at the boat launch.

Is it time to go boating yet?

I tow our 232 CC with an '08 Toyota Tacoma. Double Cab, PreRunner. It has the 4.0 V6, two wheel drive. I wasnt planning on buying a boat yet, as the wife said we just werent ready. So I bought a mid size pickup, then she said sell the Z28, and lets buy the 232 we have always wanted. So I did. I was not sure if it would do well, but after a lot of research, I was comfortable with it. It does a great job!  I am very pleased how it handles. Even the hills that I think it will struggle with, it never hesitates.  The ramp is no problem either.  I can maintain 65-70 MPH on the interstate, no problem.  Although, when the lease is up, I will be upgrading to at least a half ton pick up. I would be more comfortable with that. Especially during a panic stop.

Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 Off-Road for me.  5.9L motor, automatic with 4:11 ratio gears.  It has enough power, good sized brakes and the gear ratio helps at the ramp and on the steep hills in Kentucky.  I have also found that stiffer springs used in the Off-Road will help to eliminate any body sway (especially in windy towing conditions).

I agree that 4X4 is a REAL plus.  If you doubt it just watch a 2-wheel drive truck with a 6000 lb. boat try to get up a wet steep hill coming out of the boat launch area.  I've only used the 4x4 in the rain, on dry days we are 2-wheelin' to the top with no issues!

2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel.
First diesel truck and I love it.

Pulled the 250FV through steep mtn passes with no trouble at all.
Heck, I set the cruise @ 70 and don't remember taking it off through the hills.

When I first picked up our  05 232 Cuddy I was towing with a 96 Dakota 4x4 ext cab w/tow package...

That trip was huge disaster,,, truck performed well even though it was almost maxed out,,, The new trailer that purchased with the boat fell apart 90 miles into my 180 mile trip...  I limped into a boat yard and 12 days later we finally had boat home...    Anyway....  I just purchased a Performance Customer Built Trailer painted to match the boat and truck,,,   The package looks great...

We tow with a 06 Nissan Titan 4x4,, CC,, LE w/Big Tow Package...   The is a great tow vehicle and a great daily driver except for it's hunger for fuel...  It get 11-12 MPG on average...  I have it since 11-06 so it just went out of the 36/36 warranty but it has only 23,450 miles...  and has performed every towing task I ask of it with no
problems....

In total it's just under 50 feet of summer vacation fun..
