Hi everybody,

when i start the blowers on the 270 f.v mod.2002, they operate normal for abt 1-2 min. max and then the automatic fuse goes out and blowers stop. i press the fuse to operate again the blowers but without success.

If i just wait for some time then fuse can be reset, but again i face the same problem as above.

Any ideas on that?

Most likely would be electrical circuit problem?
Is it easy to trace it?

Sounds to me like your blower motor is getting hot, they are not expensive and pretty easy to change but check and make sure you don't have a restriction in the hose from the blower out.

I installed a second bilge blower on our 232 Cuddy...  They both work off the main blower switch however the one I added is on a relay so the power to operate blower is not drawn through switch...  The switch only triggers the relay...  I also rerouted the blower outlets to discharge through the smaller starboard side duct..  The larger port side duct draws fresh air in...

The system seems to work fine and we do not get CO collecting in cuddy area any more...

Replacing a none working blower is not hard,,, Think about maybe adding a second as back up,, make sure the hose ends are anchored and not getting clogged or blocked...

If you choose to add the second blower wire it through a relay,,, If you are already popping the breaker button at the helm maybe you should wire both blowers through relays...

Good luck,,,  We are still under 7 inches of snow and expecting more,,, spring seems a long time away...

Alex, The automatic fuse is called a circuit breaker. The circuit breaker heats up and opens like a fuse but can be reset after it cools. It opens or "trips" becuase there is to much current flowing through it. The most common cause for this is corrosion at a connection or in the blower motor itself. Try checking the connections in the motor compartment. Then take the hose off the motor and see if it spins freely. On rare occations the circuit breaker itself "wears out". I'd bet on a bad connection. Good luck, Eric

Most electric motors have a thermistor (temp sensor) which opens to shut down in the case of overheating. This is independent of any circuit breakers. When the motor cools down, it will restart. Usually means the motor is over loaded or the windings are going bad. Too high static pressure (duct restriction) can cause this. If no restriction, probably need to replace the motor.

I had the same problem and took the vent hose off (It's just like a dryer vent hose) and there was something jamming the blower blade.  Removed it and it worked fine.  Have a few zip-ties available to put it back together if you do check it out.  Good luck!!
