Can anyone clue me in on where to buy an infant life vest?  I (we) will be having our first child right around the end of April, beginning of May, and would love to have the baby on the boat ASAP.  Didn't really see anything at West Marine.  Any ideas would be appreciated!  Also, any tips are welcome too!

Bought ours at K-mart (20 years ago). Did you try Overton's and Bart's? No seasonal issues there.

I had a 6 month old child aboard recently.  I got a life vest at West Marine that was designed for up to 30 pounds.  It had no lower limit and it was designated "infant."  it fit real well.  I believe it was intended for "new borns."

It was made by "Mustang Survival Crop.  Model: MV3150.

Or--I just ran across this.

Look at www.boatownerswarehouse.com .  Look up part number 390739, Infant-30 pounds.  On sale at $19.99

Think mine cane from Wal-mart. Had a real good fit and a big flotation pad in the collar, crotch strap and adjustable buckles. It was USCG aproved.

If they are not like car seats and don't expire in 5 years, I would be happy to mail you one. I have a couple around and would be happy to mail you one. If you don't like it, you can pass it along or use it as a reference for what you are shopping for on the various sites mentioned. Let me know.

We actually had a 0-50 lb one for each of our kids.  Definitely didn't fit the absolute greatest the first year, but it kept them in it and worked for many years.  It sounds like the 0-30 is the best.  I couldn't find it when I was looking.

Had the same problem with my kids a few years ago.  It is hit or miss in the local stores, but I was able to order a couple from Overton's. Boat shows ususally have a few availlable as well, and there you can try them on the child to see which is more comfortable.  Believe me comfort is the key, the ones that look the most comfortable are sometimes not and vice versa.  It's personal preference for the child. Ahh.... kids.  You gotta love em.
