07 300 EC (aft table suggestions)
«

All,
New to the forum (just introduced myself in introductions). The boat I purchased (Edit: am buying) is the 07 300 EC. The boat is misisng the aft table and curious if anyone has suggestions on replacements? Better said, do you like the stock table or if you had to do it from scratch would you get a different design or size? If yes, why? If you have a location (web site) that you recomend I am all ears also.
Second question, the boat does not have filler cushions. I do plan on purchasing them so this might impact the above answer. From what I can tell you can use one of the filler cushions and still have a table up. Two cushions and you have to pull down the table. Assuming I am correct with my understanding, is any table better with the filler cushions installed?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Welcome to the RBO site. Not sure about the 300, but in some models, the filler cushions can't be in place with the table deployed. As for the table, Rinker has made a circular one and an oval shaped one. I am not sure which one your boat came with, but if I were buying from Rinker, I would specify the oval one. It is much nicer. I know guys who have had custom tables made from local cabinet/counter top makers in their areas. This is typically not the least expensive alternative. Good luck!

Thanks. I have seen both (round and oval) and the oval seems to be nicer. Thanks for the info and that was what I was wondering about the filler cushions. I assumed that it wouldn't fit but not sure how wide the "first" one that goes in was (to make it an L shaped seat). Anyway, open to ideas. Interesting you mentioned custom made. I found some cool teak ones but they also come with a really nice price tag and are heavy. The heavy is the excuse I'm using for not buying one...

I have a 2005 300. Its either the cushions or the table. The table is the oval one.
I like having the filler cushions in but they are a nuisance to keep around. On the 2005 they dont lock in and move around so I would not want to be on them when moving.

Interesting... Ok. For some reason I thought you could make an L with the seats and still have the table. I could see if they don't have a good home how they would take up a lot of space. Maybe I'll wait a bit on the filler cushions. Sounds like the oval is the way to go.

I know you can do that with the larger Rinkers, but not sure about your model. To be honest, though, you can make your own table (I used birch plywood with a oak veneer, oak trim, stained and varnished), using the ring that mounts to the oval table. If your filler cushions don't work out, maybe have an upholstery shop make up new ones into the size you want / need?

Something to consider .... I ordered the filler cushions with my previous 280 and I never used them once ! I carried them around for a while but found we always ended up relaxing on the bow area sun pad. They are a great idea, but we never put them to use.

Hmmm... wow, great thoughts guys. Thanks for your experiences. I've heard the filler cushion comment more than one now. Interesting. I like the idea of making a table. I'll look into that. Probably more than my abilities but I do have a few months.
Curious, the boat I bought has the holly floor package. Anybody know of a table maker that makes something that looks close to the same? If I don't put in the filler cushions lessons my concerns about it weighing too much.

Before I make too big of a price assumption, any recommendations? The suggestions about maybe not using the filler cushions makes me think a little more about getting a table that matches the floors (or close).
PS: Love the 34! I guess I am skipping the 2 foot ies and going straight to the 4!... :)

I know a guy that had a couple made at a countertop maker in Beltsville, MD a few years ago. I understand that the guy made them reluctantly because my contact took him a pattern and talked him into using some scrap corian he had around the shop. Since he was reluctant, he charged him about $250 or so for each as I remember. I would just look around the Annapolis area for a countertop maker and see what he says.

you could always get some teak / holly plywood, but you'll have to shop for small (say 2' x 4') lenghts, as 4 x 8 seem to be going for between $300 and $400. Put some nice edge banding or molding along the side (your preference as to whether you want a weather rail on there or not) and you're good to go.l
