Ok..ok...ok....I started with a pontoon, then added a rinker for added excitement for the kids.  Now they're into wake boarding. roll eyes  Guess what.  Now they want a wake board tower.
I would appreciate any input on installing a wake tower on the rinkers.  preferably a captiva 192.
I am looking hard at the monster tower because it seems to fit my needs.  I think. huh  It has good reviews, price is right and it folds down so maybe i can still use my existing cover.  Monster tower
My concerns are gel coat cracking, using present bimini top and getting inside the hull to install it.
I would appreciate any and all help.  thanks in advance. whistle

The 192 is a rather small boat for a tower,  I know some have it though.  Never option from Rinker.  If you use common sense while using it will be ok.  Al

I was thinking of doing the same thing w my 270 but I don't think they make them for boats that big. I am trying to find someone local to fabricate something to fit my boat well and look like it belongs.

I did talk to someone that custom fabricates wake towers and quoted me a ball park of $1,900 without seeing it.
Here are some pictures of the monster tower on a rinker 192.  I got them off the monster web site.  It runs about $1,000.  I just don't want to buy it and find out I also need to buy a custom cover, modify my bimini and then find stress cracks in my gel coat.

I can see $800 - $1000. $2000 is a lot of money!! I have been considering fabricating a hard top off my radar arch and make attachments off the sides to hold a couple boards and some killer speakers. This is a must for me as I own a skateboard manufacturing company and my little dudes love to shred! We enjoyed the boat last year and pulled them in a tube but now it's time to move onto wakeboarding and then progress to some wakeskating!

The stress cracking comes from installation problems.  The Monster tower is a good tower,  I would recommend the one photoed.  The more triangulation the better.  Backing plates are a must.  I am getting ready to mount a tower on an older 225 Master Craft.   Al

I'm a Rinker dealer and I highly recommend the Monster.  They are very helpfull and will be happy to ans your questions.

We have mounted them on 212's and with the high one, never had a problem with the original bimini.

If you use homemade backing, just make sure they conform to the contour of the inside decking.  We use exterior plywood along with 3M 4200 quickcure.

You may want to find a dealer for installation if you do not feel comfy.  Just make sure they have experience in such installations.

Thanks for the info.  I wonder if the red rinker pictured above w/bimini has a MT1 (which it was listed under) or a MT2 that your referring to.  It does look taller.  Bad thing is that it is $300 more than the MT1. tongue
And yes, I've read good things about their customer service.

I installed the Rinker tower on my 2007 246 for $4000. I wanted the tower to match the contour of the boat and it was the only one that looked like it was buitl for it. I am all about form and function so I didnt slect the other towers.

I too am on the market for a Tower and so far I am VERY impressed with the "Big Air:Vapor" tower.  Looks burly, has plenty of holes for speakers, lights, etc and it is very reasonable ($750)

I looked very hard at the Monster tower and almost purchased the MT2 for my 232.  There was a video on You Tube that showed the tower swaying so I contacted Monster and they assured me they had tried to contact the person that uploaded the video, but was unsuccessful....

I decided on the Samson Saber Tower http://samsonsports.com because the Samson Towers are fabricated exactly for your boat.  The draw backs are delivery time - 6 weeks and costs - $2,500 with shipping and because I added the speaker wiring and lighted rope saver on top of the tower....I will say the tower is SOLID and folds back nicely if needed for storage ....

The stock Rinker bimini top just didn't look right, even though it would open under the tower it just kinda look blahhhh so i have removed it and will order one from Samson that mounts to the Saber.

Last but not least, i will be installing trim tabs on our boat because the beginner wake boarders like the speed at around 17mph of which is hard for my 232 while trying to keep on plane....

Best of luck and just measure at least three dozen times before you drill that first hole  grin

I agree I really do like the Sampson tower for my 232. I will give Monster another look though. As far as tabs I will be installing Lenco 12X12 with the LED switch. I will create an installation manual and post it to share in a couple of weeks.

There were pics of a 2005 192 with a tower installed in the photo section unless it's been removed.  It was a yellow boat and I think the guy used an area 51 tower? Something like that.  It looked much better than the monster tower did in my opinion.  I'll try to see if it's still there.

The discussion was on page 6 of the pictures forum.  Called "L'eau Rider with tower installed".  The pics didn't show up on my computer, maybe they were removed from the host site??
