Ok now so we are over 15 for sure. Right Frodo??

So would do you have an idea for the shipping costs? Then we would be able to transfer the money in your paypal account.

Thanks!!!

I think they told Frodo that shipping in the US was free.

Sorry, my bad. I misread.

Frodo, do you know if the seller will be able to ship it vis regular USPS for Canada. Also, do you know if it is possible to put no value on the package...Because if it's with USPS express mail, there will be customs duties for Canadians...

Thanks

Ok - by my count, we are now up to 16 units:
User name   Units   Shipping
Frodo       2
PBJT      1   USPS Shipping (no value on Package) to Canada
Rune      1   USPS Shipping to Malta (may be some shipping charges)
NO GIN   1
Bat32      1
Dan&Darci   2
SMVORCA   1
MaxiMedelo   2   USPS Shipping (no value on package) to Canada
SilverBullet   1
WaveMaker   2
DanV      1
Seadumpster   1

And we have ANZAC on the fence for 2 more.

Since we are now at 16, I’ll call Simrek again today and get a few questions answered but I’m thinking that we may need to draw a line in the sand for a commitment date so that we can get these ordered and shipped before splash day. There may be a lead time for manufacturing these along with the shipping time. I’ll also find out what the new price is for each unit since we are over the 15 units – hopefully it’ll be another $10 (or more).

The group will need to determine what the drop dead date to place an order will be.

I’m keeping track of those that have sent me their shipping info and Pay Pal info. If you have not sent that info to me please forward your info when you get a chance.

When ever you want to cut off that is fine with me.  It doesn't matter if it's today or a week from today.  We needed 15 and have more than enough now.  You are the one taking the brunt of the work so I support any cut off day you want.

Frodo-

Just throwing this out as an idea. What if we worked out a promotion code or something like that with the vendor or we could send a list of buyers to them with a deadline. Then maybe we could order them individually and still get the friendly price. That way you are not left holding the bag.

I called Paul (the owner) at Simrek again today and here's what he said:

1)   The Halo drive showers will fit ALL Bravo drives including the XR drives on Dan & Darci’s boat.
2)   Simrek Corporation has shipped these drive showers all over the world and usually charges $30 for overseas shipping but will only charge $25 for our friend Rune in Malta.
3)   Shipping to Canada via USPS is not a problem but he cannot ship these as “gifts” so that our Canadian friends don’t have to pay GST/PST. You WILL have to pay whatever it is that you have to pay to the Canadian Government  angry
4)   There is no lead time for the drive showers – he can ship within 48 hours and UPS will deliver to your USA location within 2-5 business days.
5)   SeaDumpster had a great suggestion about everyone ordering their own unit(s) by using a promotional code or something like that but if Simrek were to do that, then we would wind up paying more because he now has to process every order separately (13 separate credit cards, etc.). Besides, he also mentioned that it was his general experience that by the time it gets to actually ordering and paying, many people change their minds and a 17 unit order suddenly shrinks to 12, etc. So, as I mentioned before, I will put all of the drive showers on my credit card (essentially guaranteeing that we will actually buy enough to get the discount) and when I receive payment from you, I will notify Paul at Simrek to ship your unit(s). If you decide that you don’t want to pay me then any drive shower(s) not paid for will go on E-bay and I’ll be very pissed off.
6)   It looks like the best price we can get will be $129.95 for 17 units. Since Simrek will have to ship each order separately, that is more time / work / packaging, etc. for them so that will be the final price (plus tax if required).

Frodo       2
PBJT      1   USPS Shipping  to Canada - you will have to pay GST/PST
Rune      1   USPS Shipping to Malta ($25 shipping charges)
NO GIN   1
Bat32      1
Dan&Darci   2
SMVORCA   1
MaxiMedelo   2   USPS Shipping to Canada - you will have to pay GST/PST
SilverBullet   1
WaveMaker   2
DanV      1
Seadumpster   1
Partsman   1

And we still have ANZAC on the fence for 2 more.

Personally, I’d like to get this done by early next week – Tuesday (February 9, 2010). That way, I can place the order on Wednesday (February 10th), get these paid for and then I can send out Pay Pal invoices to everyone. Again, once I receive payment then I’ll notify Simrek to ship to the address you have provided.
Feel free to call Paul directly and ask him any questions if you’d like. I told him that we are all Rinker owners and that he could check this out on RinkerBoatOwners.com if he wanted.

Just for the record, I asked Simrek the following:

"Does the shower on a BIII require anything for corrosion protection in
 brackish water?"

Their answer:

" I haven't heard of anyone having a problem with adding one of our
showers to their drives in any salted water. The problem with salt water
corrosion  begins when you have two different metals that come in
contact with each other. Add a corrosive like salt water and you have
created a battery which speeds up the oxidation of the aluminum. One of
the advantages of our new Max System is that we don't introduce any new
stainless steal to aluminum contact. The bottom of the shower mounts to
the stainless steal lift ram and the top is mounted to an existing
stainless bolt hole. The systems that requires you to drill holes in the
drive in order to mount the shower are the ones that will increase the
oxidation of the aluminum especially at the contact points."

Hope this helps,

Paul Kermis
