http://driveshowers.com/Check out this site for drive showers, A drive shower will continually spray water on the upper gear case, in turn cooling the aluminum while the boat is under way. Dramatically extending the life of the Mercruiser Bravo Series outdrives. These are standard equipment on all Formula built boats. Extremely recommended on every single 420 with XR drives. Al

I'm putting these on in the spring because I have all the signs and symtoms it speaks of (especially the overflowing drive oil when running hard for any duration). Almost a must buy forme with the Bravo III outdrive. Here is another good web site on drive showers. Kind of goes in depth of the "why" factor. http://drivecoolers.com/index.html

Alswagg,
Would you recommend installing a shower even if I never really had problems?? It's pretty cheap for the money you could save...

I need one also but they sure have a hefty price tag for some bent tubing and a couple of brackets. I may try to fabricate my own. I have had syptoms of overheating. My mechanic recommend a drive shower if you run on plane more that 20-30 minutes at a time. I am getting tired of adding lube after it runs hot.

One of the first things I did to my 232 B3 equipped 454 Rinker. Never have any drive issues, however every year I have it serviced and the drive removed and bearings greased and so forth. I cant imagine how hard it would be to fabricate something to look better than these stainless steel wonders. When I ski (seldom) I can see the water spraying on the drive ! Think I paid $99.00 for mine in 1998.

My home marine has free hauls this month. That would be a pretty cheap drive shower installation. :)

The time spent trying to make one would be better spent on buying one, installing it in 15 minutes then getting out for the day on the boat. Bought 2 from Paul Kermis at driveshowers.com. One for the 232 B1 and another for the 270 B3 drive. Both installed in short order and no more white chalky residue. I run for 2-3 hours at a whack. Great protection. Get a big enough order together and he'll do a group discount.

Ok - checking the web page, it's obvious that you get a much better deal by buying at least 5 of these things - so are there any interested parties in creating a "bulk" order so that anyone wanting to buy a drive shower gets one at the best price?
Here are the prices on the web page: Single = $199.95 Two = $179.95 Three = $159.95 Five = $139.95
So, if we can get a group order of at least 5 of these then each person will saver $60 per shower (I’d save $120 for the pair).
I'm in for 2 of these - and I'd be willing to try to coordinate working the order out if we can get folks to commit to buying at least 5 of these. We might be able to get an ever better price if we can order more than 5.
Let me know if you or anyone else is interested in working together to save some cash.

You can put me down for 1. (2008 BIII) But you would have to repack and USPS (not UPS) over the border if you desire to include me, obviously I would pay additional shipping.

Hi, I also would be interested in one- 2003 Bravo 3 but (same as above) would need repacking and shipping for the trip across the pond.
Thanks and regards,
Chris

Ok - so that makes 5. We'll wait a bit longer to make sure that everyone that wants a drive shower chimes in before we work out the details then!

Is the usefulness of drive showers limited to Merc drives?
I am one of the lucky ones with the Volvo Penta 5.7's with the XDP Drives.
If the Volvo drives would not benefit much from addtional cooling, maybe that is a point out of many negatives for these drives.
