Hi RBO- this is probably a really lame question, but with this being my first real boat, I'll ask anyway.....

Being sooo 'busy' (read- scared to death) while docking for gas this summer, I never really got around to figuring my gallons per hour.  This seems like easy math- taking the number of gallons and divide by the number of hours used since the last fill up (or is the other way around   huh ).  Now, I just have to remember to record the hours before leaving the dock.... wink

But reading some other posts, I see people discussing MPG.  How is this calculated since my 310 only shows Hours used?

Also, for other 310 owners, what kind of gallons per hour are you experiencing?  I have twin 5.0L Merc's with 75 gallon tanks.

Thanks,

Hey Bill -

I'm not a math guy - other than figuring out the financing for my boat...

So I'm buying a Flowscan fuel flow meter - that's one option to have it calculated for you or there are other options for the Mercs that some folks I'm sure will jump in. The reason that this is attractive to me is that I can then have a digital tach and see what my actual fuel flow is given at various times. Conditions change during trips so you can see what your burning with or against tides, winds, at various RPMs, etc.

Bill, I have the 310 and at my average cruising speed of ~33mph, I burn ~ 20gph.  It does fluctuate depending on conditions, but that tends to be the average.  I have the 5.0MPIs, but I believe the fuel tanks are a bit larger. scratch head
