Im in the break in period. It had .6 hrs from dealer , and ran it 2 hrs today but temperature gauge was giving me a reading of approximately 175 to 190. No audio alarm went on. The dealer said there is a 160 degree thermaostat in engine as does the manuel. Is this normal. Any help would be great.

What motor are you running? You should run right at 175. The motor should not be running around 190...I would mention it to the dealer...

I ran the Chicago Loop cruise this weekend and I ran 3/4 to WOT for the last 15 miles due to it raining like crazy. I have the 350 mag in my boat with the alpha drive and it never went past 180.
Let us know how it works out. Have you checked the thermostat? Do you notice black soot around the motor?

My carb 5.0L has never been over 165.....and same for my two different older 3.0L boats before that. I'd be checking the calibration of the temperature gauge, sending unit or perhaps if they put in the right thermostat.

I would have it looked at ASAP! As the summer comes the waters warm up a bit and the diferently in water temps will make it run even hotter something is wrong if you have a 165 theomstat and it is running at 195 - Have the dealer check it out -

I sent back to dealer this week. I am going to pick it up friday. They hooked it up to the computer an determined it is running at 170 degrees.
They said the temp gauge is off about 13 degrees and as long as the temp is going to that spot after engine is up to temp Im good. His answer was if he hooked up 3 different gauges he would get 3 different temp readings. They also fixed the bilge pump which was triiping the circuit when turned on. It was shoted out and replaced.

I should of jumped in here earlier...my temp was always reading higher than what I thought it should be (180) all of last year. Last fall when I installed the Smartcraft stuff there was about a 10-degree difference. The Smartcraft info would be the same as your tech tapped into. Oh…speaking of gauges that are off…my fuel gauge is real optimistic and that is why I installed the Smartcraft stuff in the first place.
Good luck

Most boats fuel gauges are optimistic due to the location of the sending unit and the planning motion of the boat! Don't ever rely on a fuel gauge when close to empty while the boat is in motion that is a sure way to run out of fuel - I know from experience that when the 290 gauge says 3/4 empty underway I best get fuel quick! When the boat is at rest that same 3/4 reading is now on empty!
Just a thought! -
