For all of you following the broken rinker story on BoatUS forum jcon had this to say -

Quote
Well everyone, I finally picked my boat up the other day.  At first they seemed to have repaired things correctly.  They told me they grinded away my whole engine compartment and relayed the glass.  They fixed a chip on the deck correctly this time.  Last time they jsut slapped some putty on it and didnt sand it or anything.  The cracks under the cuddy door were repaired.  They remounted the swim platform with fender washers instead of a stack of one inch washers like before and also sprayed some type of foam in and around the bolts and washers.  They even repaired broken snaps on my canvas.  For the first time I thought they did something right.  Even though the swim platform still drags in the water and the  boat still rides terrible, which is the root cause of all this.

During the the survey a high level of moisture was found in the transom where the swim plaform is bolted. You can see brown water lines coming down from 4 of the 7 bolts.  A while ago I asked Randy Rinker if the coring is going to be replaced since it  has some moisture damage and he tells my there is no coring in there, it is all fibreglass. I contacted my surveyor and he tells me that it is clearly a piece of coring.  When I picked the boat up Randy was at lunch, I spoke with a tech that did  the work.  He told me that there is a piece of wood in there but they found no moisture .  The next day I notice brown water lines coming down from 3 of the bolts, where they say is no moisture , and I havent even put it in the water yet!!  Does this sound like there is no moisture in there?  I called Randy on Friday and I didnt hear from him until today but I missed the call.  When I talk to him ill let you guys know what he says.

All in all the major problems with this boat are still present, so like I said before, this boat will break again.  Rinker keeps telling me there is no problem with this boat, even though I have had similar repairs done twice in the past year. So stay posted for part three of this mess.  Maybe next time Rinker will admit there is a problem with this boat.

Seems like things are happening -

I wonder why he doesn't trade the boat for one he would like since its fixed :?: IMHO he won't be happy until Rinker gives him a new boat and he probably won't be happy then. cool

More of the never ending saga! The way jcon discribes it sounds like double talk - here is his latest post

The water is coming in from inside the transom.  It is still wet in there because Rinker didnt repair this area correctly, they just reglassed. I spoke with Randy today and asked him about that coring and why he told me that it was all fiberglass when his tech tells me there is wood there.  He pretty much told me he thought I was referring to a piece on the swim platform.  Then he says there is wood in the transom but even though its wet it doesnt need to be replace, beacause they use wood that is guaranteed for life.  So I dont know what to say to that, we will just wait and see what happens next.
