I have a 4.3 liter Merc. Alpha One.  This is the first summer for running this boat.  I noticed that my oil pressure gauge is running about 60 PSI the last two times out.  I thought (but was not positive) that the PSI had been at 40 PSI for the first part of summer.  Does anyone know what the correct PSI should be for this engine?  If 40 is correct what would cause the pressure to be higher?  I checked the oil and it is within the correct amount.

cold oil the pressure will be higher,  hot oil the pressure is lower.   40 lbs is great pressure, 60 is fine also.   10 is not.   Allan

All of the boats I have had ran around 40 at an idle and around 60 on plane.  Hope this helps.
