c. Bay Creek 10/9 – 10/11. Oyster Fest and Festivities on Saturday Evening. Let’s have everyone show up to this event. If you can’t make it via boat come out by car. We’ll plan to have the oyster pots and bar-b-ques up and running early evening allowing anyone that drove time to enjoy themselves and return home if not staying at the marina lodge or a local hotels. Bay Creek will provide the tables, steam pots, and will assist us to coordinate w/ a local oysterman to deliver the oysters. I’m also looking into live music or if that’s not possible perhaps karaoke. I’ll keep you posted on this and the overall events as more details become known. In the meantime, if you have any karaoke equipment and can bring it out, let me know. BTW, Bay Creek’s new owners are doing their very best to improve the overall conditions of this already great marina. Since taking over earlier this year they have dredged the channel and placed addl markers, Red and Green to make it easier getting to the marina. While I have not personally experienced the results, others have shared that the markers made it a cinch to navigate once they made the last right turn towards shore and the marina channel and had no problems with skinny water. If anyone has been to Bay Creek recently, pls share your observations. We’re are inviting the Navy marina Yacht Club to join us at Bay Creek. Two seasons ago, mid Nov timeframe, we attempted to hold a similar event, had over 20 boats sked to attend but the weather trumped the trip. By scheduling this trip in early Oct, we’re hoping to avoid the Nov winds. The marina telno is 757 331-8601 and for addl info on the marina click here:

d. Waterside & Wine Fest 10/15 – 10/17. Yes, it’s that time of the year when we get to enjoy the fruits of our Virginia wineries, at least in liquid form.
The marina requires a minimum 2 night stay and the cost is $2.75 per foot. If I recall correctly, this less than in past years. If you’ve been watching the news, you know that the Waterside park ground and building have been remodeled. The reopening of the park and facilities were celebrated last month during the July 4th weekend. The marina telno is 757 625 3625, for addl info on the marina click here:
