I've never been out for Venetian night before.  Anybody else planning on being out there and any tips?

I guess everyone has to do it once.  It gets really crazy.  I wouldn't get in too close, you won't see the parade but you'll have a great view of the fire works.  A couple of years ago we tied up to a friends boat in Monroe harbor.  You only see the back of the parade boats as they face the shore with the decorations but the fire works are unbelievable.  Way better than 4th of July.  Getting out was a nightmare.  If I ever do it again I will stay a couple of miles out away from the 'crazies'.
