Is it just me or does this weather really suck???????? Last years weather was not the greatest for boating and this year seems worse already. Dont know maybe its just me but it is the middle of June and we cannot even get a good day in the mid 70's. Let me know what you think.............

Hey Raybo - It's not just you. Here in Chicago, the weather has been unbelievable. According to the Sunday Chicago Tribune, the past 17 months have been the wettest in Chicago history - that's from January 2008 through May 2009 (which just happen to coincide with the fact that I bought my 2008 Rinker in February of 08). In fact, Lake Michigan is at least 2 feet above it's level last year and there are several tall boats that either cannot leave or enter Diversey Harbor due to the Lake Shore Drive bridge and the increase in Lake Michigan level.
I've had my boat in the harbor since April 25th - that's 52 days as of today and there have been EXACTLY 5 days that it was actually nice enough at the harbor (no rain and temps above 70 degrees) where you could enjoy being out. The average temperature so far this summer has been about 8 degrees below normal in Northern Illinois in general and the prevailing wind patterns have been out of the north which means that along the lakefront, it's been 60 or below during the day. Most days this summer, everyone is either wearing jackets / sweatshirts and or rain gear and at night, you'd think that we were in Alaska!
I keep hoping for Summer to finally arrive - which it is supposed to be in the 80's this week but of course my boat got hauled yesterday to fix a leak on the starboard engine (shifter boot).  bang head

Hey Ray, we've been out every weekend so far since March down here.  Sometimes we get a little rain, BUT WE'RE ON THE BOAT!  What else matters?

Ahh Dan and PartsMan good for you. Your the lucky ones, weater wise that is (look at your teams....LOL). I am with frodo. Weather everywhere else pretty much sucks. Sure last Saturday it was nice out but the wind blew at 25 right out of the east. Even last year, nice day but windy. No wind but rain. Boating on the ocean with rain or heavy wind really is not fun. I am hoping that this weekend is nice, I want to go see the whales.......I will keep you posted.....

I know! The weather has been awful!  Especially the cold temps.  The water on Winnipesaukee is usually warm anough for swimming on Memorial Day weekend and this year it was barely swimmable last weekend.  Should be better this weekend but the forcast is calling for thunderstorms all weekend AGAIN!  Well, I am happy to have full canvas now.....  Last year I would have been soaking wet in the cockpit of my twin engine Baja with dry wife and guests in the cabin!!

Well, I put over 15 hours on the boat the last 10 days, only a couple were a little rainy (was actually hoping for a bit harder to wash the salt off the boat), but nothing a few drinks couldn't wash away! grin  Like Dan said, get out there no matter what the weather!
