Hello everyone;
I'm a recent purchaser of a 232 cuddy (1996) 454 magnum m.p.i. and Bravo1. This boat has lenco trim tabs and normally runs with 3 adults on board.
I'm thinking about re-proping to a 4 blade or newer technology prop to replace the originally equipped Mirage.
Boat currently runs in low 50's and can reach 5000-5200 rpm.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Not sure about the 454 Mag MPI but I have the carbed version of this boat, '96 7.4L with B1 drive.  I think a 23" pitch Mirage.  I have no tabs and run 58 GPS with 4 aboard, 62 alone with 1/4 tank of fuel.   Max RPM for my engine is 4600.  Sounds like you might be underpropped.  What were you looking to gain performance wise?  Just looked up max RPM for your engine 4600-5000.

What pitch prop you turning now?  I think you need 26" minimum with that kind of HP (385 per book).

Hi guys, thanks for responding.I believe that this boat currently has a 21 pitch mirage and I guess I was hoping for lower cruising rpm with higher top end without sacrificing too much holeshot.I want my cake and eat it too.
Was wondering what a newer generation Bravo 1 ,Revolution 4 or High 5 might do for these parameters and fuel economy.Any thoughts?

P.S. - Does the bravo 1 have grease nipples on the u-joints or are they permanently lubed?

Thanks for your help

Yep grease zerks are on the shaft inside the U-joints.  Might have to rotate the engine to be able to get the grease gun on  them.  I think you are way under propped.  More pitch will give you lower RPMs at cruise, a higher top end and since you have the tabs I doubt you'll lose much holeshot with that much HP.  Find a shop that will let you test a 26" Mirage on there.  You could probably find one on Ebay as well for half of what they are new.  Can also try www.bblades.com.  They may have something that will work or steer you in the right direction.
