Now that we found our new summer slip on the Hudson we are looking into a summer trip.

We are thinking of spending a week at the Jersey shore.  Areas we are looking into are Long Beach Island (Beach Haven) and Point Pleasant so far.

Looking for other ideas near a beach for a night or 2.  Places must be kid friendly so any other ideas would be great.

Thanks

Rob

Hey Rob we are partial to Wildwood NJ which is where our Rinker 310 is docked..It has a great Boardwlk for the kids and long beachs. The Marina our Boat is in has a great raw bar with live bands, a nice restaurant, great facilities and even Jetski rentals. Our boat is on the transient dock so we get to meet everybody that visits our marina..Its a little far from the hudson but if you are interested it's Lighthouse Point Marina in Wildwood NJ..Where ever you go you will have a blast I am sure....Jim excited excited excited

Hey Rob   both places are great fun and very kid friendly.  It might be a little easier getting around in Beach Haven on LBI.  Point Pleasant will have better restaurants and a bigger amusement park, but you might need a taxi.

We are in Brigantine NJ and haven't ventured out for any overnighters except the inintial ride from Baltimore's Inner harbor. Wildwood sounds like a nice short ride. Hope to get down some time during the summer.

My boat is docked in Toms River, which is not too far from Seaside, and a little south of Point Pleasant. I would recommend Point Pleasant, but as someone said, it may be tough to get around.  As your heading south, you'll pass Tice's Shoal.  It's a great spot to hang out.  It's about 5 miles north of Barnaget Inlet.  Lots and lots of boats there, and it's somewhat protected.  I'm very, very, very partial to Long Beach Island.  My parents live down there, so lots of times we'll drive from Toms River to LBI.  Beach Haven is great for little kids - Fantasy Island is the perfect size for little kids.  The town is great, too - very family oriented and lots of good places to eat.  I love the beaches on LBI, too.  You've picked a good spot to hang out for a few days.

One word of caution, tough. The bay around LBI is very, very shallow outside of the channel.  Be sure to stay in the channel, and not stray outside of it.

We are located in Wildwood as well, across from the LIGHTHOUSE Marina previously mentioned.
We are at Schooner ISLAND, which is in walking distance (2 blocks either direction) to a pharmacy, ACME, Liquor Store and Bar/Grill which has great food.  The marina also has bikes you can use to get to the boardwalk which is 8 blocks away.  You see free fireworks every Friday night.  The marina has laudry room, clean showers and heater pool.  You should definately check it out.  You will not be disappointed.

Forgot to mention - Wildwood has the Boardwalk and Beach for the kids as well as a swimming pool/bbq on the premises.  Everything is within walking distance.

You can also try Shark River inlet in Belmar.  Very close to you, great beaches, restaraunts and everythign is pretty much in walking distance from the municipal marina.  They have a pump put and gas(which was 3.95 Memorial day weekend).  You will have to cross 3 bridges to get there.  First one you will fit under, the other two depending on the tide you will need to hail the bridge operator.

Wow - old post

We have been to Belmar.

Last summer we went to Beach Haven and had a great time.  Fried had a house in beach haven west (Manahawkin) that we went to for 2 nights then we stayed at Shelter Harbor Marina - AWESOME place and close to everything.

We were originally planning to go back this year but the gas price threats ($7/gallon) scared us and we made other plans for this summer.  We are going to Wildwood by car this year.
