I posted a couple of pics on my website of our trip in november of lake mead. We flew out to vegas and rented a pontoon boat for the day. Great lake . In one shot you can see how far down the water is.
And one of the first mate.

In the first photo in the lower left hand side you can see the boat we rented beached so we could stretch our leggs a little after the trip across the lake.
I missed my cruiser only being able to go about 8 mph across that lake.

Great Pics! Looks like it's transforming from a lake to a pond with the water level so low.

Saw a special once on Discovery or something similar, said it's a pretty serious situation. Too much consumption of the supply, leaving less for it downstream to fill up the lake. And they keep on building...

I was amazed at the site when I saw it last year as well. Dock where we caught the lunch ride / tour was reported as having moved out twice in the past few years (for obvious reasons). Caught a few locals having fun that day. (Pic shows 110 feet low water line)

It's going to be really hard to make up 110' of water. That's our nature now, worry about it later. Something our kids will have to deal with along with all the other problems we are creating.

I flew out to Vegas a few years ago and the plane happend to fly over Lake Mead on the approach to the airport. As I looked out the plane window at the lake, it looked like someone had painted a white outline of the entire lake and I couldn't figure out why it looked that way. It wasn't until I rode out to the lake that I realized that the water had "scrubbed" the rocks and that the lake level was that low. Hopefully they get enough rain / snow melt pretty soon to get it back up to a more normal level - if the water level doesn't start increasing, it'll be pretty bad for Vegas and the surrounding areas.
