Come on guys we need to get enough of us together so we can get our own section for Georgia. Speak up if your out there. I am really interested in getting a club together and making new friends. I Have just moved back to Georgia from Las Vegas. I will try to visit some places that sell boats and see what I can find. I am not sure if Rinker is sold in my area. I am living right outside Ft. Stewart with Savanna right down the street with all the water in the world. Please reply or email me and let me know if you can help.

Thanks,
Mike Baker

By looking at the members map in the tool bar at the top of the forum page you look like the only one in Georgia so you need to recuit some members down there.

Baker, glad to see someone else from Ga. I am northeast of Atlanta, at Lake Lanier. Have not heard much from any Georgia Boys.

Well we need to start something up in our neck of the woods. Have you seen any Rinker dealers around?

The only one I knew of was Atlanta Inboard near Lake Lanier, I purchased my 270 from them. They have since dropped Rinker. I did hear of a boat dealer down the road had took on Rinker but according to their web site they had only a few small ones. How about down your way?

Well, that's good to know, I am looking at taking my 270 to Ft. Walton in March and dock it there. Had never checked on a Rinker dealer in the area.

Have a brother in Pembrooke, on the other side of Ft. Stewart. He spends weekends on St. Simons in his sons condo. He's a land lover since he does'nt have a boat. He has been trying to get me to bring my down and cruise around Savannah. Had thought about it, thought it would be fun to cruise up the Savannah River and tie off at River Street.

Coop,
I will be honest with you, Im kinda scared to take it out in the ocean or on the river. My captiva has only seen Lake Mead in Vegas. I dont think she or I have a clue about salt water. Im sure I wont take it out till I can find someone to follow for the first time to ease my fears. I also think there are a few things I need to add to the boat like a UHF radio or something. I guess I need to get it ready first then try to get out. I tried going to a wildlife office but they were not much help. I just need to get here online and start looking for the required items and if I need any special license or tags for it.

You will want a VHF radio and good charts - a GPS is nice to have as well. You will also want to pay attention to tides.

so it is a VHF radio, not UHF? I will use that to call for help or just talk to other boats right? Is it a law to have one? Im good for the GPS and I will look for charts. Anything else?

Baker, try these sites for info on boat requirements:www.safeboatingcouncil.org, www.nasbla.org, and www.uscgboating.org.

I plan on crusing the intercoastal on the gulf side, and the bay areas, working my way up to the ocean. I also am looking into taking a class with Atlanta Sail & Power Squadron. They also have trips to the coast, rivers and lakes. It is a great way to learn with others and have a great time. Their next trip is to Orange Beach, Ala. They are going to crusie the intercoastal for a few days.

New GA Rinker owner here. Bought mine at Freedom Marine up in Buford. Great dealership. There is definitely a quality Rinker dealer in Atl. Just down the road from Lake Lanier Islands. Grant will do you right.

I will do most all my boating in Allatoona as we are in Acworth, but have trailer and will travel. LOL
