Hello All,
I am looking at a '97 232 Cuddy with a 5.7 LX with B3 drive.  Are there any standard failures or pitfalls to look for when surveying this boat before purchase?

Thanks!!

Definitely should have a sea trial.  Lots of things could show there.

I have the 2000 232 cuddy. I love the boat. The main issue I have with mine is Now after having it for so long I wish I had an open bow just for the extra seating room. When I bought it I thought oh I will use it to sleep in. Ya I have slept in it one time in three years. Its kinda of a pain when you need to be on the nose and you have to climb to get to there at times. Other than that I have the 454 which lacks no power. Like I have read other peoples comments and most will tell you always try to get the biggest engine just to make sure there is no stress on the boat, dont worry about fuel economy. The 232 needs the power to get it out of the water. Hopefully this helps and its not to late.

If you have not bought yet I love my 97 232 CC but mine is a 7.3? 454. I heard if you have a 98 or newer it comes with EFI. Good luck

We have a 98 232 Cuddy with the 5.7 EFI.  It has been a good boat - split between speed and family utility.  However, depending on how big the water you go on, I would suggest adding trim tabs.  If you don't have much weight in the cuddy, they seem to help with 3-5' waves like on Lake Erie.
