Hello,
I have a 1976 20' Rinker that has a 140 OMC  I/O. What I dont have is the plate or ears necessary to run the engine on land. I'm not even sure of the proper name for this piece of equipment so I don't know how to go about getting one. It is a hinged metal plate that sandwiches the area of the outdrive where the water intake is. It holds together with two wing nuts and has a garden hose connection for aplying water while running the engine on the trailer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Pat,

I'm sorry but I don't have the specific info you're looking for.   However, years ago (back in the late seventies/early eighties) my brother-in-law had the same motor you did.  The device he used didn't have metal plates, but rather two large suction cups connected by a "U" shaped piece of metal, which pushed the suction cups towards each other.  One of the cups had a hose connection on it.  I don't think it was specifically designed for the OMC but rather was a generic design.  I don't think you should have too much trouble locating one.  Try Overton's (you'll get a discount as a RBO member), Boatfix.com or some of the other online stores.

There's another thread on the site looking for the oldest Rinker.  So far, you may be it.  Search the site for the thread, post some pictures, and maybe Talon will send you some swag!   thumbsup

Oh, and welcome to the site!

West Marine these work better than the standard muffs but the may only work on a Bravo don't know if you can slip the pin through an Alpha you can go to any boat shop and buy these

thanks for the suggestions. I have a set of those. They don't fit very well. The intake faces down and above it is
a straight up and down piece so the cups dont grab very well.

Pat,

You should post some pics of your boat over in this thread.

I'd love to see the pics.
