M3EATER was nice enough to put together this excellent 'non-technical' guide for us.

Here's a "non-tech" tutotial for posting photos on this forum:

The first thing that you need to know is that your photos MUST be hosted on another web site in order to show them, here, in the Rinker Boat Owners forum. In other words, you can not just grab the images from your computer's hard-drive and post them here.

A common term for the process that alllows you to post your photos in this forum is called "hot linking". This is creating a link in your forum post that goes and gets the image from another web site .... and shows it here.

Sooo ..... you must first have your photos hosted on your own web site or a photo hosting service's web site. Some common services are:

* Village Photos - http://www.villagephotos.com

* Image Shack - http://www.imageshack.com

There are many others, as well.

Once you have your photos loaded up on the photo hosting web site (or your own web site ..... or any other web site, for that matter), you can now begin to share them here, with other Rinker owners.

In order to share your photo here, you must know its address on the web. This is its URL. Your photo hosting service will likely tell you what the URL, for sharing your photo, is. Some of the services have two differnt URLs for your photos. One for your personal viewing and a different one that is to be used for hot-linking ..... sharing on other sites. If your service has a specific URL for sharing (or PUBLIC viewing), this is the one that must be used. If they do have a URL for "public" viewing ... they'll tell you so, and tell you what it is, for each photo.

Method #1:

If your hosting service gives you the "puplic" or "hot-linking" URL for your image, copy it and then come pack here to your post. In the position within your post, click the Img key in the control panel above your post (you should see ... ).

Click the Preview key below your post to see if the image comes up.

Method #2:

You can obtain the URL for an image by right-clicking on the image and then clicking Properties from the pop-up menu. You will get a pop-up screen that shows the properties of the image. Highlight and copy the Address (URL). Now come back to your post and follow the same steps as listed above to post the hot-linked image.

Method #2 can be used to hot-link just about any image from any web site. For instance:

Go to :
http://www.bavauto.com

right click on the small group photo image

Click Properties on the pop-up menu

Highlight and copy the Address of the image

Paste the image into a web browser address bar and click GO

You now have the image on the browser, all by itself.

You can post the image in your forum post, as well, just like your personal images.

Help.

I had a photo of our boat which I uploaded via the profiles page.  Yesterday I tried to change the image but now all attempts fail.  I select "I will upload own image" I select select (browse) but I'm using a Mac but even tried with a PC and that didn't work), selected a file (photo) from my files (as I had done previously) but it doesn't load when I click update/refresh or whatever it is.  There is a message saying no file uploaded???

Any advice?  I have checked the help section without success.

Thanks

I guess I am just stupid because I have tried and tried and used several different websites and none of them will work.  I am on other forums and have no trouble uploading pics.
