Just thinking about how I'd like to try out a cruiser, as well as a possible honeymoon idea. I came to the thought of wondering if you could rent a cruiser for a weekend/week.

Be nice to show the Fiance what it's like to be on a cruiser in the water, as well as might be a cool way to spend a weekend on the lake.

Anyone have any thoughts, or know where I can talk to someone that rents that type of boat?

The quick reply is YES, you can 'charter' cruisers in various ports.  Although I am not certain this is available anywhere in the midwest.

Off hand i can't remember the names of the companies, but I get their mail a lot.  Through West marine, or just google 'charters', bareboating, etc.....you should find companies where you can charter larger cruisers (power boats) in the Keys, BVI, USVI, and other areas.  Actually, now that I am thinking about it I do recall one company that has charters in some costals ports in the US, which would include Florida, east coast and possibly west coast.

These larger cruisers (many of the them are catamerans) are very nice!  You also have the option of having a boat all by yourself, have a small crew & Capt. to attend to the boat and you just enjoy, some will fully provision the boat for you, and other options.

I belive there is also at least once place on the great lakes that charters trawlers. Most of the places up that way only deal in sailboats though.
