Hi,
I have a makita variable speed, and use both foam and wool like pads with the 3M polishes.
They work real nice with a little mussel behind it, and a lot of time but it is well worth it!!!! :)

I have the Porter Cable with a 6" velcro backing pad.  It works great.  I have not used one but I have been told that the Flex random orbit unit is the best on the market.

I,m not sure what that is , but the wheel works well to rub out imperfections and other spots in the gel coat, I think the orbital polisher works well for spreading the wax instead of by hand, the wheel takes out yellowing and other spots..... 8) have fun with it, it should turn out nice!!!!!
