Things to do this season
«

I though I would start a string on the TO DO list. I know all of us have such a list each year. I am comfortable doing most everything myself, but I know there is always someone with a little more knowledge or skill that me. So if you have been there-done that, I would be glad to hear from you!
Not in any particular order:
1. Replace standard Jabsco head.
The joker valve is not working, plus two winters back the pump housing cracked. I repaired the housing with marine tech, but now that the joker is gone wild, I'm just going to replace the whole thing
I was considering a different model...the PHII, but nixed that idea and will just do with the original.
2. Repair two small gel coat booboo's. I will have a shop do this.
a. While towing a tube last season the ferrel broke on one side of the bridel and the tow line shot back and hit the transom. The ferrel made a real neat crater just below our boat name. Luckily, no one was hit by the darn thing, it could have killed someone.
b. We have an air bubble on the inner gunwall...as you step into the 270 but that curved area next to the after bench. I noticed a crack and when I tapped on it, you can definately tell there is an air pocket.
3. Replace boat grahics after gel coat repair
4. Install my new Navman 5500 chart plotter at the helm, and hook up the DSC to my VHF.
5. Arrange for a new safety inspection.
6. Preventive maintenance on my trailer brakes & bearings. This will be season 5, its time. All of the tires have been replaced already
7. Create and weld on lateral bunk guide-ons. I can start a whole other dialog on retreiving a 270, and the things we have learned. Now that I think about it, a lot of owners in this group have a 270 or similar, and trailer. So that will be a useful dialog.
That's all I can remember for now....my list is at home!

Good list, Bob. As you noted, perhaps talking about this stuff will prompt owners to perform some PM (Preventative Maintenance) and clean-up work in preparation for the season.
And ... as with Bob's note - if you trailer regularly, side guides on your trailer are such a great assistance. No more pulling it out to see if the stern is centered on the trailer ......
Here's my "off the top of my head" list (although the boat is a '97, it only had 50 hours on it when we purchased it last June):
Trailer brakes - Bought the boat last june, have not inspected the brakes yet (although they work fine).
Trailer wheel bearings - inspect and grease.
Wax the hull - did the lower hull last year, but not the upper hull (above the rub rail) .... do the whole thing. This is not only cosmetic, but goes a LONG way in keeping the gel-coat in great glossy shape for years to come. Waxing the running surface of the hull can help top speed and also improve fuel economy ... a bit.
Install new radio - existing Kenwood died. Would like to install an amp and good speakers, but .... we'll see.
Engine oil change
Stern drive oil change
Check tilt/trim fluid
Re-waterproof the camper canvas and the cockpit cover.
Install some cup holders - although there are the built in holders in the inside of the gunnels, they aren't really very usable.

As soon as water is turned back on at the dock, give baby a bath and wax - she's filthy.
Install E80/radar/sounder/fluxgate compass.
Install teak cabin sole.
Install new cabinet door with flat panel TV
Install invert
Hopefull I'll get it done in the next month or six weeks. HAve to wait for the perfect time of year where it's not too cold and not too hot to be working.

I bought it late last year, have not used it yet. I don't remember what it was ... it was from West Marine. I'll work on getting the name.
One place I researched was here:
http://http://www.boatus.com/boattech/casey/22.htm
Depends on what type of canvas you have.
