192, water rising in ski locker!

We have about 6 hrs on our new 2009 Rinker 192 and I am concerned about water sitting in the bottom of the boat.  The bilige pump looks after any water in the engine compartment but our problem is water rising 2 - 3 inches deep in the ski locker under the floor.  There is a drain hole in the bottom of the ski locker area and it is clear.  I can push a complete coat hanger back towards the fuel tank with no effort.   It seems the water is trapped and can not get to the bilige pump because of the fiberglass bracing that raises up 6 inches between the fuel tank the the engine area.   I just siphoned out 4 - 5 gallons of water tonight......is this normal or did they forget to leave a drain to connect this area to the bilige area???

You are putting the drain plug in the boat....Correct?...There is a drain plug located in the back of the boat under the lower unit....I am not being condescending, however if you are getting that much water in your ski locker there is a major problem...

The drain plug is in and the engine compartment does stays dry unless I slow down quickly and water flows in through the air vents above the transom.   I don't know where this water is coming in,  it could be even from rain water while it is siting outside on the trailer.   My concern is it can not get out or flow to the rear where the bilige pump is.    Is there another 192 owner that can post a picture or explain what kind of built up fiblerglass wall they have between the rear of the fuel tank and the frt of the engine?

WOW, my 182 (predecessor to the 192) had a similar problem, and once I cleared the drain with a coat hanger it's been fine ever since.

Can you store the boat with the tongue pretty high? Perhaps as you pull the boat out at the ramp, hop out and pull the plug right as you clear the water, and let some of the water in the boat run out the back?

Seems wierd that there is that much water in there. Have you checked the bottom of the hull to insure there are no cracks under there letting water in from the bottom? If thats not rain water, then there is a serious problem with the hull that is letting that water in. I've skiied for 8hrs a day a couple times, and even with people constantly in/out/in/out of the boat soaking wet, I didn't have but maybe a gallon down in the bilge. It's also set outside without a cover in the rain once while camping, and it had MAYBE 2gal in there. Of course all of mine ended up in the bilge.

Are you sure the coat hanger is traveling in a straight line? I pull Cat5 wire as a side job, and often times our wire snack will feel normal, but have already hit the bottom of the wall, and will have started "coiling" inside the wall.

I does seem like a lot of water.  When I tip the boat up till the outdrive hits the driveway the water still will not flow over the top of the 6 inch bracing between the back of fuel tank and engine area, although the water is now visible and can definately flow freely under the fuel tank to the brace wall.  The engine area with the bilige pump and transom drain still stays dry.

I have the same issue with our '05 192 but I'm not seeing that much water.  I find that I have to manually pump out the compartment under the ski locker once or twice a season.  I pulled the rear floor section out over the fuel tank but there was another layer of glass so I couldn't really see much.

WOW, I certainly think thats something they would have thought of. Guess I need to check mine now, although I pressure washed the carpet awhile back, and didn't have any problems with water still in the hull after that.

I dropped the boat off for winterizing and warrantee work and the dealer (Maple City Marine)  Said our boat is not the first they have seen with this concern re water not flowing to bilige pump.   They are aware of the problem,  know the fix and have contacted Rinker to be sure they are corrected when building the boat.

So THAT'S why you upgraded to the 260!!    Didn't want to deal with the water in the bilge? 

Seriously, congratulations on the new boat - I bet it's going to be a looooong wait till next boating season!
