I was also somewhat skeptical about what power plant to choose for my new boat, but ended up getting a good deal on an 08 246br with the 350mag and b3 and I have to say that I am TOTALLY impressed with the boat.  I have had 6 people, 75 gallons of fuel and all of our equipment and saw 53mph on the speedo.  Just me, the wife and daughter we can run 55 all day.  As for the the planing times, mine came with the 24p propset and  it has no issues whatsoever.  Of course I am accustomed to and underpowered Rinker cruiser....lol

If I were to do it again, I would still go with the 350mag/b3 combo....Very fuel efficient and powerful....

Just my 2 cents...

Not to keep poking fun at a post but the speedo only goes to 60 on the instrument cluster.
I have checked mine with 2 different gps and it is within 1-2 mph so they are relatively accurate.

Did you request the 24p prop set?
Mine has the same but I see most of the reviews have the 26p set on them.
I am happy with the 24 but wonder what the 26 would do for the fuel consumption.

I just bought the boat from my dealer.  I just took for granted that it was the stock setup....  So to answer your question, I did not request it.

I was also wondering what the 26's would do for the boat...My fuel economy seems to be GREAT...I topped it off (75gal) before I put it in the water with 1.2 hours.  I now have 8.1 and a half tank left....Most of this was just cruising, very little WOT and holeshots....

Have tried a 2007 246CC, and on a good day it will run 53 gps knots with 496HO(425hp) B3XR 27P and corsa.
