We've been thinking about going to PIB for a weekend.  We've never been there before.  Any suggestions or recommendations?  Best dockage?  What do you think of The Boardwalk?  Any blunders to avoid? etc.

Should we even go to PIB or just stick with Kelley's Island (which has become our best hangout spot)?

Thanks.

It has been many moons since I was there so I can't recommend anything specific....other than state that PIB is for professional drinkers only

Sea Rascal,

I just at PIB yesterday and we go there about 6 times a year.  If you are going to go Sunday through Thursday then you can stay pretty much any where but I would recommend B Dock of the public docks.  It has the best protection of the 3 public docks and you will not have to raft up as long as there are no special events going on.  If you do not like rafting and wnat to be some where a little less wild, especially during the weekend, I would recommend Millers Marina.  It is located just west of downtown.

Good Luck!

Ditto what bwweaver360 said.

I cant offer much boating input, (I'm boating to PIB for the first time this weekend), but my boater friends frequent A and B docks, avoid C unless you can get on the inner finger.

PIB...now there is something I know a lot about! I have been to Put In Bay about 12-15 times already this year, I always fly in so this boating thing is kind of Greek to me! But I can tell you anything you need to know about the island.
The Board Walk is a great place to get some of their famous lobster bisque, the rest of the food is so so. Pretty mellow place to have a few drinks compared to the other bars.

Recomendations...
Bars:
Round House bar, I'm in total bliss as soon as as I step on the beer soaked hardwood floors of that bar. By far my favorite hangout. Catch the Mike "Mad Dog" Adams show there at 2pm, if you leave before it's over...use the side or rear door otherwise he'll heckle you for leaving!

PIB Brewing Co. (AKA "the Brewery")
Fun place, turns into the hot spot after 1:30 am after the other bars close.

Joe's Bar
Off the beaten path, cool place to hang out. Beer is food, eat at Joe's.

Tippers Bar
It's called the "wrinkle room" because there is a lot of old people that hang there. Pretty mellow and they have the best BBQ chicken tenders I have ever had.

Places to eat:
Pizza, bar none...it's Cameo's Pizza!
Some how Frosty's Bar got the reputation for having good pizza, folks...I'm a pizza fanatic, Frostys was horrible! I know good pizza and bad pizza, this stuff was below bad! It tasted like the crust was made out of cardboard (maybe even recycled cardboard

Upscale dining:
Hands down Axel & Harry's. Great food, awesome veiw of the lake, elegant atmosphere. Plan on dropping a $100 dollar bill for dinner and drinks for two. Side note...they dont even get mad if you accidently get the menue too close to the candle and set on fire! Dont ask me how I know that!

Definatly rent a golf cart and tour the island, also make sure you check out the monument (I think they will be closing it shortly for the next two years for repairs and restoration, so you'll want to see it soon) caves and winery, they are a must. Sundays at 2pm there is an old car parade.

If there is anything else, please dont hesitate to ask!

Thanks bwweaver360 and Bryan.  The info you provided helps a lot.

I'll let you know of my experience when we visit PIB in August.
