I bumped into a mental dock while pulling to a transient dock and took a nice "hunk" out of my hull while doing so. Its about 1/2 inch long and pretty deep. I'm wondering what a ball park figure might be that I can expect to pay when I pull it from the water this fall and ask to have it repaired.

just a swag...but I'd say $300 to $500 depending on color, and if any graphics are involved.

You may want to fix it yourself.  http://http://www.spectrumcolor.com/ sells color-matched gelcoat for Rinker (an other manufacturers).  Try an Internet search for applying gelcoat.  I did this a couple of years ago and was pleased with the result.

I've used the Spectrum Gel Coat Patch kit (paste) for scratches and gouges and the stuff works great!  It fills in and polishes up nice.  Just putty it in with a knife, do your progressive sanding (180-220, 400, 600, 800) and then buff to a shine.

For less than $25 US, it's worth trying it out -- if you wind up needing to call a fiberglass guy anyway, he can always grind it out...

I visited the Spectrum site and checked out the paste kits. Does look pretty simple and there instruction are pretty clear. Certainly worth giving it a try and saving a whole lot of money  Thanks for the info guys

Thanks for the link.  How would I know if I have Sand White or Bone as the main colour?  The Black Onyx is obvious.
