Well, after having the PYC pi$$ me off again I've decided to go ahead and get the boat hauled to have repairs made. There is some warranty work I've been putting off and now the need to repair some damage that the PYC caused. The boat will probably be out for the remainder of the season and then it is getting shipped to the coast or stored until I go to the coast. Either way, next weekend will be my last on Lake Norman

It's ashame to hear of your issues.  Especially enough to cause the boat to be out of the water during prime time! :)

Thanks. To be honest, I haven't been using the boat as much as I normally do. I've only done about 75 hours this year and normally I've logged at least 125 by this point in the year. I'm sick of the lake scene in general, so it's time to get the boat shipshape and move on to better cruising grounds.

Sorry to hear about your predicament.  Hope you can get some time in on the new water.

Talon, our insurance pays for a replacement boat if for some reason our boat is damaged or of need of repair. Do you have such a clause, if so you can still get out on water. Not sure what the insurance is like in your neck of the woods?
Cheers,

I actually do have such a clause, but the boat is not damaged to the point of being unusable, it is mainly cosmetic stuff.

Talon; what is PYC and what did they do to pi$$ you off. It is a big decision to pull a boat like your and move to a new location but you should love the new location.

It's the only private marina on the lake. They've been complete arseholes since the get go (I've been a member there for almost 3 years. At first the service sucked at the restaurant and ship store, but that has gradually improved. Instead, the marina manager and his staff have become regressed to the point where I can't handle it anymore. They make it a habit to lie to members and show favoritism to others. The final straw was when I brought my boat back in after memorial day weekend. I was beat from being aboard for so long and asked the dockhands to throw the cockpit cover on the boat. I left the cover and poles sitting on the back seat for them.

The next day, I called to confirm that they had in fact covered the boat; the last time I asked them to it didn't happen. Well, 5 weeks later I come back to the boat to find that they hadn't covered it. I have water damage to my electronics, ships logs, mildew on the seats underneath where the cockpit cover was laying, tons of bugs and spiders and, worse of all, water made it into the aft stateroom. It filled one of the lined compartments with 3 feet of water and then had to find someplace else to go... soaked one of the innerspring mattresses and all my ships manuals.

When I confronted the manager about it his response was nonchalant and there was no effort made to even help me clean up from their mistake. He stated that he had never heard of the dockhands not covering a boat they had been asked to before. A quick walk round the docks talking to folks proved to me otherwise. About 50% of them have had similar issues. In response to all the water damage, the mangers only comment was that I should have bought a boat that didn't leak!!!!  It wasn't the boats fault. That locker was never designed to have 3 feet of water in it...

[/rant]

As I said, it was the final straw. The dinghy is already gone. The boat is empty. They are coming to get it sometime this week. My letter of resignation is in the mail today to the PYC, the BBB, and Morningstar - the PYC's parent company.

So your "Harry Button" is broke...

That's ashame - I am not there enough to see all the "stuff" - but so far for us - the casual drop in and swim, party, etc - it's been pretty good... I would however see things differently if my boat became a bathtub...

I've only asked those guys to do something for me twice. Both times have been epic failures. The levels of ineptitute are quite stunning.
