Figures my first post is a problem....

Last month we bought a used 2006, 246 Cuddy with 70 hours on it.  We are 2nd owner.  Week 2 we notice the seam on the rear cockpit seat is coming apart and the vinyl coming out/off of the cording stripe.  We had a few things the dealer agreed to take care of as part of the deal, so it went back in last week for those things.  I mentioned the vinyl issue, and during the course of conversation the Service guy informs me that Rinker replaced some upholstery on the boat once already because some 06 boats were affected by the same seam problem.  He said he would ask Rinker if they would cover it based on this.  I just heard back from the guy that "Rinker isn't going to cover that because that seat was not affected, just the sunpad and flip up cushion".  1. I have a feeling he didn't even ask them; 2. How does one deduce that one seat is not affected and others are?

I'm just wondering if Rinker would do anything if I were to contact them directly.  I understand the warranty on that is over, but being a 2 year old boat that was supposedly only used for one year, I would think this is a manufacturing problem that would be covered, given the history of the problem.  Has anyone else had this experience?

If I have to have vinyl repaired I don't mind that, but I don't want to do that if I don't have to.  I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks!

I had damage to my rear cockpit seat on a 250EC by my mechanic.  His upholstery guy said it would be well over $200 to make a new seat skin.  I called Rinker and they made me a new seat skin for $40 and my mechanic had his upholstery guy install it. I would definitely contact Rinker on this directly as they are very responsive and even if you have to pay something to get a new seat, they won't rip you off.

Had a problem with a seam letting go on the rear/side seat cushion.  Called Rinker directly and after I sent them some photos and my hull#, a new skin showed up a few weeks later, much to my surprize!

I took all the suggestions and contacted Rinker about the seam splitting on the seat.  The rumors are true, Rinker customer service rocks!  I spoke with both Gaynor and Randy, and am expecting a new seat skin FREE! in a few weeks.   =D>  Too bad I can't say the same for a certain service guy at the dealer.   [-X
