I am the proud owner of a 2005 Fiesta Vee 312 with twin Volvo 5.0.  I have 4 technical questions I am looking to get answered.

1.   Engine temperature rises and then falls.  I had a new thermostat and impeller installed on one of my engines, however, the temperature still rises.  It idles around 170 then every 5 minutes, it rises to 225, stays there for 45 seconds, the engine makes a hard noise (like driving an old car up a hill) and then the temperature drops back to 170.  Any ideas?

2.   I had a new pump installed in my toilet which works fine now.  However, I am not getting any water into the toilet.  I do get water to both sinks.  Any idea where the shut-off valve for the toilet is?

3.   When I am running the A/C off the generator, after a couple of minutes, the A/C stops and I receive on the A/C contol panel the error PH4.  Any idea what this means?

4.   I have two gas tanks.  I am running both engines off the same tank.  There are three valves located in my engine compartment.  They are all running horizontal with the pipes.   Which way do they have to be in order to have each engine run off it's own tank?

#2  The shutoff valve is under the mid-cabin under the stbd side.  Under the cushion there are a couple access panels, one in the back for bilge pump, next one forward has access to shower pump and a/c pump and strainers.  The sinks get water from fresh tank.  The head gets it from the seacock, which is whatever water you're floating in.

#3  I'd need to look into the manual.  I know it does say what some of the errors mean if you happend to have it.

#4  The middle valve of the 3 needs to be shut off, that keeps flow between the two tanks.  The other two should be horizontal with the pipes.

Not sure what to say about #1.  Maybe something is stuck in the water flow?  When the impeller was changed, was there any pieces missing?

Hope this helps & congrats on the boat...also, welcome to the forum! :)

Ref #1, make sure it was a marine thermostat installed, not an automotive thermostat.  Never use an automotive thermostat in a marine engine.  Also, its not unusual for a new thermostat not to work properly.  You can remove it and hang it in a pot of boiling water and see if it opens.  If you put a thermometer in the water, you'll know what temp it opens at.  At least this way you can rule out a bad thermostat.  And if it is the thermostat...easy fix.

Thanks for your assistance.   I will look into these when I am on the boat this weekend.

The engine temperature rising is the most perplexing.  I will try your suggestion and attempt to determine if the thermostat is bad.
